Precious Promises

Here is a collection of Bible Verses that are for those that are in need of encouragement and the strength to get through the day…may they be a blessing to all those that take the time to read this article.

"As a dream when one awakes, so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies. 21 When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds." Psalm 73:20-28

We can see here a man that is ridden by doubt…but as we read on, we find that in fact he had one thing that he was very sure of : God was with him.

As we go through this world, there will be times when we do not know which way to turn, or we might know that, but we are afraid to do it; we have doubt that is holding us back, we doubt that the Lord will be there for us to guide us through. All we have to do is read these verses "who is there in Heaven but the Lord?"

Is there really somebody on earth that is more important to us then the Lord? Is there anybody or anything that is more capable of taking care of us and bringing us through then the Lord? The answer should be "no" to all those questions. We need to stop doubting the Lord’s ability to take care of us…we need to do what the author of that Psalm did and put our trust in the Lord.

"I sought the LORD, and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him." Psalms 34:4-22

These verses almost do not need any comment, we can clearly see that the Lord takes care of those that are His. When times of discouragement come, we need to stop and remember that the Lord is the one that is in absolute control of the situation, He knows why you are in the place that you are in…so stop being discouraged and look to the heavens and give thanks to The One who died for you and takes care of you.
