Poor Posture Help
If poor posture has you down you may want to look at these helpful tips.
If you’re currently suffering from poor posture, it’s going to be incredibly important that you take steps to correct this immediately. Using poor posture on an ongoing basis can set you up for many back and spinal column problems, so the sooner you are able to get out of your bad habits, the better. Add to the fact that as time goes on, bad habits get further ingrained, making them much harder to break down the road.
Here are some tips to help you correct poor posture and keep yourself as healthy as possible.
Use A Posture Chair
If you’re not sitting in an office chair that’s not comfortable for you, the chances that you start to adopt poor posture are going to be much higher than if you are comfortable. You want to always make sure you have a supportive back support so that you’re sitting upright and able to fully open the chest and raise the body upwards.
If your chair is too soft or you are really sinking down into it, this will really limit you in terms of your ability to prevent poor posture.
Get Up And Walk Around More
Sitting for extended periods itself can also promote poor posture, so set a timer somewhere on your desk and get up and walk around every hour or so when it goes off. Extended periods of sitting make everything ‘settle’ in the body, which over the long term can even impact your height.
Reduce Your Stress Levels
Stress is another contributor to poor posture because it causes us to tense up our shoulders, hold our neck in an awkward position, and use shallow breathing.
As part of your plan to fix poor posture, you should focus on pushing your shoulders down, taking deep breathes, and making sure your neck is always relaxed. This can also help to reduce tension related headaches if you currently suffer from them.
Check Your Desk and Computer Level
Moving on, be sure you check your desk and computer level. When the eyes are focused too far downward, that will also cause you to slouch, adopting poor posture in the process. Be sure you read up on proper ergonomics so you are sitting in a position that is posture and back friendly.
Get Active
Finally, try and be as active as you can outside of your work hours if you have a desk job. This doesn’t necessarily mean you must go into the gym; participating in outside sports or activities is perfectly acceptable so long as you are actively moving around.
The more activity you get, the more fluid and lose your joints and tendons will stay, which will impact the development of back pain over time.
Aim to get at least thirty to sixty minutes of some form of physical activity daily for best results.
So, stop allowing yourself to suffer from poor posture. Make some changes now so in the future you’ll be sure you are healthy and maintaining proper back position.
