Pool Party Tips and Ideas

Pool party fun in the sun, planning your pool party.
It won’t be long now before we can all look forward to those lazy summer days. If you are fortunate enough to own a swimming pool why not invite friends and family round for a pool party. Your guests will love to take a dip in your pool and relax in the sun with a drink or two!

Start by thinking about your invitations and what kind of theme you would like. Choose a style of invitation to reflect the mood of your chosen theme. Kids love a birthday celebration pool party, or maybe you fancy a girls only pamper party. Make sure to send out your invites in good time so you know the numbers for catering etc.

You can have fun decorating the pool area with streamers and balloons. A one or two colour theme for decorations is effective and string up fairy lights for when the sun goes down. Choose some music to set the mood for your party and have it playing as guests arrive.

It’s useful to provide a room for guest to change in and leave their clothes and
have some extra towels available for guests who haven’t brought their own and some bottles of sunscreen too. Provide lots of drinking water as well as the other drinks you are offering, especially for kids as they can get dehydrated out in the hot sun.

It’s a good idea to have some inflatable in the pool as most people love fooling around on them in the pool and don’t forget to have a list of pool games to get the party started. If there are children around then make sure you have some adult supervisors for them.

When thinking about food, how about using the barbecue? There’s nothing quite like the yummy smell of food sizzling on the barbecue, a lot of the preparation can be done in advance so there’s no last minute panic. As well as the usual steaks and burgers there are lots of delicious recipes which can be cooked on the grill. Don’t forget desserts, fruits cook very quickly on the barbecue, are easy to prepare and taste delicious with cream or ice cream.

Have some shady areas for guests who’ve had enough sun and as the sun goes down floating candles or solar lights look attractive in the pool. You may like to send your guests home with a favor to remind them of the fabulous day they spent with you. Some ideas for these could be, flip flops, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, whatever you choose have fun with your guests this summer!
