Pomegranate Extract is a Powerful Skin Care Ingredient

Many of my articles have to do with anti aging remedies, and several of them incorporate skin care topics. One ingredient I've found in some products recently is pomegranate extract. This ingredient is doing quite well in some formulas, and I'll elaborate on that topic today.
Skin care companies are always finding new ingredients to toss into their skin care formulas. I remember when I was growing up, aloe vera was the newest big ingredient on the block. It's still a powerful ingredient today, and it's used in several formulas, but there is a new wave of ingredients that is making waves and reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles.

Antioxidant-rich ingredients need no introduction. Anyone who has been exposed to media knows the importance of them. You have resveratrol, of course, which is found in red grapes and red wine. Then, you have the acai berry, the magical berry found in the depths of the Amazon, which is called the #1 superantioxidant by Dr. Nicholas Perricone. These two ingredients have been well-covered by many media outlets.

Today I am going to highlight another ingredient that I feel is on the up-and-up. It's the extract from pomegranates. Pomegranates are among the top antioxidants out there, and there are many juice formulas on the market that use it in part of their mix. It's a sweet berry that has been long revered as a potent medicinal fruit and regarded as a symbol of healing and longevity. It's finding it's way into the mainstream now that it has been formulated with other ingredients in eye creams and wrinkle creams.

According to research, ayurvedic medicine utilizes the fruit for nourishment and restoration of the skin's balance. Studies show pomegranate extracts work well in stimulating skin's collagen production, rebuilding its outer layers, inhibiting free radicals and assisting to counter daily effects of oxidation and the aging effects of overexposure to the sun. Obviously, these are all reasons why people use a wrinkle cream or skin care product in the first place, so it's a natural fit for pomegranate extract to be used in these anti aging creams.

The highly-discussed wrinkle system, diamond edition, uses this ingredient with another high profile ingredient, Matrixyl. Use of these two ingredients is a serious formula, and early reviews show it's pleasing consumers.

It's safe to say that pomegranate is a solid ingredient and cannot be ignored as you shop for skin care products. For antioxidant properties alone, I am sold on the pomegranate extract. Remember, you heard it from me first. People will be using this in skin care and anti aging mixes for years to come.
