Playing

A day of walking...
If I were so lucky as to be,
For just one day only to be free
Of pain,
I should walk in the rain,
I would spend an hour
Just smelling flowers,
I would walk in the park
On a path less taken,
I would chase the lark
To gain his happiness.

I would walk and shop in a store
Without stares or ridicule or more,
For I am out of my chair
Or without my cane
For this day only, I can walk again.

Before this day is through
There is but one thing I really must do,
And gather all my grandchildren near
The sweet ones I hold so very dear
And gently say,
"With you today, I can finally play."
