Plant or Animal or Human Quarantine or Outbreak - The Way We Live

Ease up on all those elaborate pictures of yours
plant or animal or human quarantine
or outbreak
those things I can't control
how could I?
This is the way I live.
I can't stop these trees from shedding their leaves
yet I try
keep notes none the less.
Chinese astrology
signs compatibility
I fill my pockets with all their souvenirs

Speak to me
goddess post
dust on my pillow at times.
I press those leaves in books
Chinese astrology compatibility
remember their voices.
I sound so proud of me
don't I?

I guess I am just a Lilith.
I lurk around to strangle and hold
yet love tenderly
I do.

I wonder at times though
a mysterious symptom of mine.
If you closed your eyes
just for a second or two
float above it all
would you continue
to seek out all those feathers?

Hard to imagine cold nights in the desert.
I never thought I'd look back and miss them.
or see any reason to recover them.
Mouth to mouth though
recovery an option always there.
I guess it would have been good to save them
even cradle them
and their well meaning jesters.

Once in awhile
I think about those days
when I pretended to feel protected
wanted to protect in return
for a hollow tree infested with ants.
No heart.

Oh, all those battlegrounds
dust on my pillow.

I found a very new leaf the other day.
It promised to stay lime green.
Reminded me that this is the way i live.
Not to worry though
I will not hold it to its promise.
Plant or animal or human quarantine
or outbreaks
I see them everywhere I look.

Besides...
I never met a Banyan Tree that did not stray
and reach a thousand different ways.
Everyone has options for change.
Mysterious symptoms
wrought after time
bring me to my goddess post
to sit and sift through feathers, leaves
and dust on my pillow.
