Pizza Sauce Recipes
Try out these yummy pizza sauce recipes to spice up your homemade pizzas.
Many people like to refrigerate their homemade pizza sauce overnight to allow the spices and herbs to blend together so that the flavor comes out fully. The consistency of a good pizza sauce should never be thin and runny, but be robust and thick. And as for the flavor, it should be zestful and not too hot or spicy.
Basic Pizza Sauce Recipe
1 can tomato sauce, 8 oz
1/2 tsp oregano leaves, dried
1/2 tsp basil leaves, dried
1/2 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1/4 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Toppings according to your choice
Blend all the ingredients in a small saucepan, place it on medium heat, and allow it to come to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for about 15 minutes.
Garlic and Herb Pizza Sauce Recipe
1 14.5 oz can of tomatoes, whole and peeled
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 tsp oregano leaves, dried
1/2 tsp basil leaves, dried
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp crushed red pepper
1/4 tsp black pepper, ground
1/4 tsp salt
First crush the garlic. Then blend the tomatoes, garlic, and the rest of the ingredients, and crush them all together in a food processor, being careful not puree them. Spread this on pizza dough and add pepperoni, cheese, and anything else you want.
Mushroom and Cheese Pizza Sauce Recipe
1 can tomato paste, 8 oz
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp marjoram
Some basil, fresh
Some parsley, fresh
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
1 green pepper, finely chopped
5-6 mushrooms, fresh, finely chopped
Some celery, finely chopped
Parmesan cheese, grated
Some olive oil
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
First, sauté the onions, celery and green pepper in some olive oil. When almost done add some crushed garlic and the rest of the vegetables and continue sautéing for a minute or two. Next, add the tomato paste. Then put in the herbs and spices along with a little olive oil, and let it come to a boil. The, reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, on a very low heat for about an hour, allowing it to evaporate. Keep stirring constantly so that it does not burn at the bottom. After the sauce gets a thick consistency, add the cheese, cook for a minute or two, and remove from fire. Add a few slices of mushroom on top after spreading the sauce on your pizza dough.
