Pirate Party Invitations
Kiddy Birthday parties are always exciting even when it comes to planning them. There are numerous options that are available to use, as a theme for the parties. Superheroes, cartoon characters, animals, ocean life and the beaches are some of the most popular ones.

It is often noticed that a lot of meticulous planning goes behind the scenes of any successful party. Parents even go overboard when it comes to the costumes, the décor, food and the activities being planned to please their little one. A well-planned party also happens after having discussions with your child if he is old enough to understand and decide. The budget, time, space available also goes into deciding the theme for the party.

The party invitation is the first step in drawing all your friends and family for the party. Birthday invitations are probably often overlooked and least thought of when it comes to the designing. The theme of the party goes in deciding the concept for the party invite. Such invitations are always known to be fun-filled. From fairies, to mermaids and even the kings and queens, the list is endless. On this note, one topic that pops to my mind is the Pirate theme. This has been popularized after Johnny Depp paraded in his detailed costume and left a ‘Depp’ mark on all the people, young and old alike.

Some design tips to create your own Pirate Party Invitations:
  • You can design the card with a pirate treasure map on the backdrop. The design can also include directions to the party in a creative way. Little symbols and icons on how to get to the party can be inserted for a good visual effect. The location of the party can be marked with a big X to resemble the ways pirates generally marked their treasure. This can be further rolled into a parchment and tied with a cord. You can make it look like a parchment if you use brown paper. Select the right texture for the ancient look.
  • If you want to avoid paper, you can even use a cloth, which be made to look like flags with some skull and bones on it. The matter can be printed over the design. While mailing the card, you can avoid the regular postal service and get a person to dress up like a pirate, complete with cap and the band covering one of his eyes.
  • To store and send your invite, you can even use an old root beer bottle. Before you slip your invite in, add some seashells, seaweeds or corals to remind one of the oceans. For those who live close to the beach, get a bagful of sand home and add some in the bottle.
  • Here’s another quick fix idea for the parchment look. Take the paper and burn the edges around the side. Pour a little bit of coffee over it. Do not over-do it as some lettering will eventually be printed or written over it. Do bear this in mind.
  • Use the cap of the pirate as the shape of the invite. This cap can have the details behind and can come with a string. (This can go around the head). This pirate party invite can be used in the party as a prop! All your guests will be in sync with each other with these caps around their heads!
  • If budget is not the issue then you can get custom made little treasure boxes and place the invite in it. This will give the receiver the feeling of actually opening a treasure box. Enclose a chocolate gold coin to add to the effect.
  • Use tiny models of ships and print the message on the flags. The ship will continue to remain for many years with the recipient for the special value it holds in terms of design.
  • The design is not the only area you need to cover. The text used can also be molded creatively to merge with the visuals. Instead of, ‘ You are cordially invited’, you can write, ‘ Ahoy mates, the Captain is in search of a fresh crew. Those wishing to walk the gangplank should battle the mighty seas and reach this island. (You can give the time, venue, address over here). Note: We are looking only for those thirsty for adventure. The unsuitable ones may go overboard!’ Use words and phrases that are relative to the topic and design.
Your guest will definitely have a keen interest in your party once he/she sees all your creative endeavors for these Pirate party invitations. One warning note: be prepared for some gatecrashers!
