Forehead, a part of 'T-zone', is much prone to pimples. This part is oily in case of those with combination skin and much more oily in case of those with oily skin. The sebaceous glands in this area are overactive. These glands cause excess oil secretion leading to clogged pores below the skin surface. The clogged pores further lead to bacterial growth and formation pimples. Pimples on the forehead can also be caused due to dandruff in your hair or oily hair. Hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy or menstrual cycle can be another cause. Apart from these, stress and an unhealthy diet can lead to forehead pimples. Excess use of cosmetics can also clog pores and cause pimples. Pimples on the forehead are easily visible and can make you face look really unattractive.

Home Remedies

Here are some home remedies you can opt for to get rid of pimples on the forehead. Remember, it is best to start using these remedies as soon as you see the pimples forming, instead of waiting for them to develop completely.

Cleanse and Steam
The basic cause of pimple formation being clogged pores, you need to make sure that these open up. Start your day with a cleansing process. Use a good quality cleanser, apply it on your face and rub with a cotton pad after five minutes in circular directions. Work till you completely cleanse the skin. Next, take steam on your face. You can use a wide bowl full of hot water for this. Steam is the best way to open up your pores. Next scrub the skin with a gentle scrub and wash off with lukewarm water. Finish with a toner or antiseptic lotion. Remember you have to follow this procedure twice a day.

Wash your Hair
As mentioned above forehead pimples are many a time caused due to dandruff or oily hair. Make sure you opt for a good anti-dandruff shampoo, once in a week to keep dandruff at bay and get rid of forehead pimples. Opt for the one containing Ketoconazole, which is an anti fungal drug and works best in treating dandruff. Whenever you apply oil on your hair, make sure you tie them back and wear a headband to keep hair falling on your forehead. Do not carry oily hair for a long time, wash them with a good clarifying shampoo to have clean hair.

Fuller's Earth
Fuller's earth also known as multani mitti is the best way to treat those annoying pimples. This works perfectly to treat acne pimples. You can make a pack by mixing it with water and apply a thick layer on the affected area. You can also make a paste of fuller's earth in rose water which will be more effective in treating forehead pimples.

Sandalwood Paste
Another effective remedy is to use sandalwood paste for pimples. You can take a piece of sandalwood, make it wet and rub on a plain, clean stone to make a paste. Use this paste to cure pimples on the forehead. You can add rose water or cucumber juice to this paste. You can also use 2 tsp of sandalwood powder, 1 tsp of honey and ½ tsp of turmeric powder and make a paste for the affected area. This will give a fresh bright look when used regularly.

Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is known to be an effective way of treating pimples. You can just squeeze lemon juice on your forehead or apply the same with a cotton ball regularly to have a plain skin. It will also clean the pimple scars, if any, on your forehead. You can mix lemon juice with rose water in case you have a sensitive skin to treat the forehead pimples.

While you try the aforementioned remedies to treat pimples on the forehead, remember that you need to be regular. Use these twice a day for at least 2 weeks. If the problem persists or increases consult a reputed dermatologist. He will prescribe you suitable topical or oral antibiotic medications for treating pimples on forehead. Even if these problems keeps re-occurring after a few days it's best to consult a dermatologist to treat the root cause. Remember that clean skin is less prone to such problems, so make sure you keep it clean and fresh.
