Petroleum jelly is a flammable mixture and pure petroleum jelly is colorless. If, it is not distilled well, then it is pale yellow in color. The jelly has healing properties, hence it is used for curing minor injuries. It can be used for skin protection, because of which, many people use it as a cosmetic. Uses of Petroleum Jelly

• Petroleum jelly is extremely good for damaged areas on wooden furniture. Apply petroleum jelly to the damaged parts. Allow the petroleum jelly to be on the damaged parts for at least 12 hours. After 12 hours, remove the excess jelly present on the damaged area with a soft cloth or a paper towel.
• The jelly can also be used for adding shine to the shoes, purses and boats. Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly and wipe off the excess quantity. Applying a coat of jelly will keep these materials away from water and other pollutants present in the air.
• If your door is making a squeaky sound, then you can apply petroleum jelly to the door hinge which will surely reduce the sound.
• Before you apply hair color to your hair, put some white petroleum jelly along the hairline and ears to keep your skin away from staining.
• It helps in the healing of cuts and sores as it protects the wounds from moisture and bacteria. You can also use petroleum jelly to heal scars.

• Before you place the candle sticks on the candle stand, apply a bit of petroleum jelly to the candle stand. This will allow you to wipe the dripped wax easily.
