Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz recently shot down rumors that his wife singer Ashlee Simpson is carrying twins.

Wentz denied the rumors on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday and said, "It’s going to be a big disappointment when it’s only one!" Hip hop star Tyga, a close friend of Wentz’s, reportedly took the blame for the rumor on Sunday. He said, "I think I started the rumor! I probably started it!" When pressed about whether or not the couple was expecting twins he said, "I don’t know. Maybe they are." He added, "Anything is possible."
Wentz didn’t help matters when he referred to the baby as "them" during an interview in June. He did tell PerezHilton.com after that interview that he was "waaay wrong." Wentz said, "I totally misspoke ‘cause we dunno if it’s a boy or girl. I try to speak vaguely, and I totally blew it on this one." Simpson has said in the past that she "would love to have a big family one day."
Wentz, 29, and Simpson, 23, began dating in the fall of 2006. In April 2008, it was rumored that Simpson was expecting the couple’s first child. They remained mum on the pregnancy and tied the knot at her parent’s home in Encino, California on May 17. Simpson’ father, Joe, married them and her sister, Jessica, was the maid of honor. The couple announced the pregnancy at the end of May on Wentz’s website. The statement read, "While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
