Pete Burns: You Just Cannot Get Enough of Him!

Pete Burns: You Just Cannot Get Enough of Him!
On the fifth of April, 1959, a new star was born. Pete Burns, a unique man with all the meaning of the word. Pete Burns became a household name and a legend. I am one of his millions of fans around the world as he is a man whom I greatly admire. He is the epitome of uniqueness and beauty of the soul. Pete Burns' charisma makes people enjoy watching him, listening him and wish they could have him around. Moreover, Pete has a beautiful strong voice and he is a great performance. In addition to his talents, he is so funny that he can make you smile whether you like him or not.

Pete Burns was born in Port Sunlight, England. He was a member of The Mystery Girls and then Nightmares in Wax before forming Dead or Alive. At first, Burns appearance shocked most people with his flamboyant style. I can imagine parents prohibiting their children from watching him at that time. He was and still, revolutionary.

Cosmetic Surgery Goes Wrong
After success and fame, the already beautiful artist has had a series of plastic surgeries that greatly modified his face. But later, it went wrong in a way that cost him everything except his loving fans. In a special documentary about plastics surgery entitled Pete Burns Cosmetic Surgery Nightmares Pete states that after his first nose job, he ran to the mirror and found that he had no nose! He had to have reconstructive surgery after that because it looked so small.

That was only the beginning, it the 1990's he had lip augmentation which is collagen injection in the lips. Pete says, ''Everything was fine until February 2003. I started to develop lumps that were hard like peas, very very hard peas in the area and they weren't something that you had to look at under magnifying mirror, they were very much there.''

Pete Burns developed granulomas which is a collection of chronic inflammatory cells resulting in pus oozing and spurting from various parts of his lips. He suffered terrible side effects including painful swelling, blisters, large swelling in the face. He was unable to speak, eat or drink. After that Pete's life and work started declining and he had to pay a very high price. All because of an irresponsible surgeon.

The following description rom Pete's own lips depicts the amount of pain and suffering he had to deal with (there are some minor omissions).

''My immune system was attacking the foreign material in my body. I touched my face and i heard this hissing sound and I was probably three feet away from my living room mirror and the sound was...you could hear it........pssst.....and then when I looked, this stuff has splattered all over the mirror, and then I pressed my cheek and it go...pssst...again...it was making this hissing sound. It was squirting everywhere. It was the body creating inflammatory fluid but in an absolutely extreme battle to try and push out the substance.

Over several months I consulted many different doctors but the outlook was bleak. The general consensus was amputation of the lips and the other parts of the face that it migrated to and I found that to be really really cruel. Not only was I deformed I was ill physically and mentally.

Throughout the next couple of years I don't know what I've done without my boyfriend Michael, with his help, I found Dr.Giovani Ferrando, a cosmetic surgeon based in Genoa who specialized in reconstructing faces. He explained that I would have to move to Italy for probably four months. I remember sobbing thinking of four months of operations but much to both of our horror, Michael and myself those four months turned in to between 17 and 18 months. In Italy I particularly one time after I think the first operation where I had black stitches in here (pointing to his lips). Along with depression your self esteem goes so you're not looking your best anyway. Your hair is tied back, you're worn out after the operations, you have these mouthful stitches. I remember being called brutal on the street which is ugly.

It was operation after operation sometimes twice a week, three times a week and you could've never ever give me a hope of what it was going to. But thank God for the doctor.

Through it all Michael never left my side. We were in a war, it might as well have happened to him but he has gave up all his entire life to be with me. I can't even address how miserable it was for him but he stayed and stuck through it and that has bonded me to him a lot more. It was difficult, you find the man of your dreams and finally your face falls apart.

He'd say you're more than a scar, it doesn't matter you're more than a scar and he'd continue to kiss me and love me and all those things I actually started to think he must be nuts. In the end I had more than 100 reconstructive procedures. There are still granulomas buried so deeply in my face even surgery can't remove them. So only treatment for the rest of my life.

My house had to be put in the market, I lost my career, I lost my biggest shot at a comeback, I disappeared from the face of the earth. I had to but I could not feel I could come out and talk about it until it reached some kind of closure.''

I think there is nothing more to add to that touching recall of Pete's story except wishing that he is and that the doctor be punished and fined. He just can't get away with it after causing someone to lose his entire life and career.

Back to Music:
Dead or Alive's hit song ''you spin me around'', first released in 1985, was re-released in 2003. At the same time Dead or Alive's greatest hits album Evolution was released. The song only reached number twenty three in the UK charts(where were you Pete's fans?), however the single was re-released again January 2006 due to lead singer Pete Burns controversial time as a contestant(and had to be winner) on television series Celebrity Big Brother and reached number five.

Big Brother UK:
Actually Pete Burns was the best housemate on Big Brother, he brought life and vitality to the house. There were no contestant ever like him and never will be. He wasn't mean he was just honest and being himself. People have difficulty in accepting reality, it is there problem not Pete!

He was absolutely funny, charismatic and unique, the house without him would have been very boring. In my opinion, he doesn't need to win CBB in order to be a winner, he is always a winner. I might sound as a fanatic fan but I only speak the truth.

''It's obvious that Pete feels hard done by. At heart he is clearly a sweet little pussy cat who wouldn't hurt a fly, but this big bad editing team made him look like a school bully and a nasty spiteful man/woman. If we the public had seen the true him of course we would have wanted Pete instead of Chantelle to win.''

CBB made gained Pete new fans. Yahoo!UK revealed that Pete was the second most searched keyword in 2006 in their annual top ten search results.

Unspun: WOW TV
Unspun is a documentary that follows Burns from his first day of prison release when he is ordered by the courts to reside with an unknown fan responsible for bailing him out. Pete was jailed for threatening and violent behavior involving incidents with his then boyfriend. He was jailed for two months for breaking bail conditions.

Freak Unique:
Burns autobiography was released in May 2006. In it he writes about his life. The book received various reviews, some customers on amazon.com commented on the book that it was sloppy written, lost and lacking detail. On the other hand, some people admired the book. No matter what, the book sold thousands of copies.

Music:
Pete Burns said recently on Turbidy Show that he is not intending to pursue his musical career. That disappointed me somehow. Of course he is free to do whatever he wants to do with his life but he is beautiful. His voice is still string and he's a great performer. I'd like to see him in the show buisiness again. He has fans including who are willing to listen to him even if he is just humming.

Marriage:
In 2006 Burns and his wife Lynne Corlett divorced his wife after about 20 years of marriage. Pete announced recently on Turbidy Show that he and his current boyfriend Michael are going to marry. Best wishes for the couple!
