The educational requirements for a personal trainer are not constrained and they vary widely. High school subjects like biology, psychology and physical education may prove to be useful for further education. One can also get a bachelor's degree in physical education or a master's degree in adult fitness. Some physical trainers also opt for a certification course that includes, program planning, exercise selection and fitness assessment. These certification courses are usually offered by certain health organizations and they conduct written and practical exams. A personal trainer should be aware of all the basic nutrients required by the body. He/she should have good knowledge about the gym equipment like treadmills, elliptical trainer, etc. Lastly, a certified training of CPR is always recommended for a personal trainer. Job Description of a Personal Trainer
As mentioned earlier, a personal trainer has to give a one to one guidance or fitness instructions to the client and help him/her to attain the set fitness goals. The first thing that a personal trainer has to do when a client approaches, is to analyze and test the physical condition of the client. Then the personal trainer has to design a workout program that will help attain the needs of the client. Once the workout program is designed, the personal trainer has to track the daily progress record and analyze accordingly. A personal trainer can work in various workplaces that can include, corporate offices, hotels, gyms, private homes, etc. The list of some of the basic duties of a personal trainer are given below.
- Understand the needs of the client and plan the workout routine accordingly.
- Choose correct set of exercises for the client.
- Demonstrate the exercises and ensure that the client is performing the exercises correctly.
- Explain the effects of particular exercises to the client.

- Motivate the client to achieve the set fitness goals.
- Be punctual and ensure that the designed workout routine is followed properly.
