If you are planning to permanently straighten hair because you are tired of those difficult to manage curly and frizzy hair, then you are at the right place. Read below to know more on how do you permanently straighten hair.
How to Permanently Straighten Curly Hair
This process is known by various names like chemical straightening, thermal re-bonding or relaxing. The difference lies just in the brand of the hair straightener product used. Your hair is treated with chemicals in order to have silky straight locks. After you have permanent hair straightening done, the newly grown hair will require touch ups. Chemical hair straightening kits are available in the market which you can use for permanent hair straightening and later touch ups as well. These simple steps will help you in having the straight locks.
- Wash your hair with your regular shampoo, use a conditioner after washing.
- Mix the chemicals in the kit according to the instructions given on the leaflet. Make sure you take the right proportions as this may vary from brand to brand.
- Placing a towel around your neck will help in avoiding skin irritation and damaging your dress.
- Now, you have to start with the straightening cream. For this, first make sections of your hair. Start applying cream with a brush section wise, start with lowest section and proceed upwards. You need to keep the rest of your hair tied with claw clips in order to work on one section properly.
- Work from the roots to the ends while applying the cream. Follow this direction and be fast. Cover each section from inside and outside with the straightening cream and comb the section straight downwards using a fine-tooth comb.
- Once you finish application of the cream, comb the entire hair together. As time passes, the hair will become stiff due to chemicals, so you have to be fast.
- Continue combing for 15 minutes before you wash them with lukewarm water. Thorough cleaning is important so that no cream is left beyond in the hair tangles.
- Dry your hair naturally and start with the neutralizing cream.
- Apply the neutralizing cream on your hair and keep it over the hair for 20 minutes.
- Rinse your hair to remove the neutralizing cream using lukewarm water. Finish by applying a good quality conditioner over your hair and rinse it off after 5 minutes.
- Use a flat hair iron to give that finishing touch. The procedure to permanently straighten hair is over and you have the straight, shiny and gorgeous hair over your crown.
