As a story writer for a love story, I want my life to be as perfect like the life of my characters in my book. But perfect was impossible for me. I don't know why? But I like comparing my male characters to the real man. That's why I always thought that my characters were more perfect than the men in the world. No one can be as perfect as them. In reality, why can't a real man be as perfect as the characters in a book? Was it impossible for them? Was it difficult to be perfect?
They always asked me how I wrote those stories. They ask me if the story was based on my experience. I just laughed at them and lied that it was from my experience. The truth was I don't know what it felt like to be in love. I never had been in love. Of course I want to have a husband someday but I was afraid to fall in love. It was being hurt by someone I love.
How I wrote love stories but never been in love? It was simple. I just have a wide imagination. I just imagined what lovers would feel and do. I don't need to experience how to be love so I know what to write. I just listen to other's stories about love. In there, I learned what love was. How beautiful and cruel it was.
People say that I'm beautiful. They were really curious why I never had a boyfriend. They say that I need one so that I can experience it and I can write more love stories. But I don't need a boyfriend so that I can write many love stories; all I need was my wide imagination. Many guys tried to court me but I turned them all down. All of them were not like my leading man in my stories. When I told them why I turn them down, they looked at me like I'm some person from the other planet. I know it was weird but I felt that way. I am looking for a guy who would be my leading man. Who was like a character in my stories. A perfect guy.

I was in the mall looking for a dress for our company's anniversary. There would be a party and many important people from other companies would be there. Old people will be there. Many teenagers were in the mall and I was observing them. Was relationship important to our lives?
I was going through a pile of dress but I can't find a dress for me. What should I wear? I saw the saleslady looking at me. I smiled at her but after a few minutes she talked to me.
"Were you looking for a dress?" the saleslady asked.
"Yes," I said still searching for a dress to buy.
"What dress would you like, ma'am?" the saleslady asked me.
"Anything fancy for a party," I said. "I like royal blue dress. A cocktail one. Do you have one?"
The saleslady smiled and goes through the piles of dress, here and there. Only for a few seconds she already got so many dresses hanging in her arms. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped, she was an expert in finding a good dress.
"Here you go, ma'am. Try it all. As you can see it's not all royal blue. You can try some other colors and pick what you want. The dressing room was in the left side," she said pointing at the left side of the store and giving me all the dresses she picked for me.
I thanked her and walked toward the dressing room. When I was near the dressing room, a guy accidentally bumped me. All the dress flew in my arms and dropped at the floor. The guy caught me before I hit the floor. My eyes were closed and when I opened my eyes, I saw sparkling, deep blue eyes staring at me. It was about a minute before I realize what I'm doing. I was in this guy's arms and staring at him. When I came back to my senses I stood up immediately and looked at the floor.
'Oh my God!" I said and knelt down. I picked up all the dress on the floor. The guy helped me pick it up. "Thank you so much." I said not looking at him. I was still embarrassed because of what I did. I didn't mean to stwere at him. I can't explain what I felt when I was in his arms. It's different. I - I don't know.
"Were you okay?" he asked me.
I was still not looking at him. I stood up and when he was about to give me the other dress I looked at him. My eyes widened. He was like I imagine my characters would be like. Tall, handsome like a prince in a fairy tale and he seems like a charming guy. He has deep blue eyes and muscular body. He wears a neatly gray t-shirt and pants. He looked like a rich man but he only wears a t-shirt and a pants. I stared at him for a long time. I didn't realize when he held my hand and put the dress in it.
"Oh, sorry about that," I said shaking my head. "And thanks for catching me a while ago." I can feel my face blushing.
"No need to say thank you," he said smiling at me. I feel like my face was burning when he smiled at me.
I smiled back at him and I said goodbye. I walked straight to the dressing room, day dreaming. How wonderful could a guy be? He seems to be very nice and sweet. Before I went in the dressing room, I turned around to see if he was still in the store but to my embarrassment he also turned around to look at me. I just smiled at him and looked straight.
Why did he look back? Does he like me? No, no, no! Maybe he just turned around to look for clothes. I smiled to myself, thinking.
After a few daydream I tried all the dress the saleslady gave me. I tried the red dress with a high slit on the side, a black dress that was so low that my bosom can be seen and some other dress. At the end I picked the blue tube cocktail dress with white roses printed on the bottom right and white rose shaped lace on the waist.
I paid for the dress and leaved the store. Sigh. I was still thinking about that guy. He was so handsome. I never thought someone that good looking will accidentally bumped me. I can't forget the face of that guy. I just wish I could see him again.
***
The day of the party, many guys approached me. I thought that the people who will be in the party were all old people who like talking about business but I was wrong. There were many people who were the same age as me. Most of the guys were good looking. But no one was as good looking as the guy I met in the store.
"Do you want a drink?" Brian, one of the guys who had courted when we were still teenagers asked me. He was my co-worker and a good friend of mine. When he courted me I was so surprise, I didn't realize that he had feelings for me. We were such a good friend that I can't believe he will fall in love with me. But it was in the past. At least we were still friends.
"Sure. Thanks," I said. I looked around and looked at all the people having fun. Some were dancing, some were talking to each other, some were sitting alone, and some were laughing so hard. My eyes were still roaming when I just saw a guy familiar to me. A handsome guy. The guy I met at the store! I walked towards him my eyes locked into him. Was that him? He seem so different. When I came closer I still can't see if that was really him. When I came much closer, I stopped. He was looking at me. He saw me! He saw that I'm looking at him and walking straight at him. I turned around immediately and walked fast, my face burning. The guy caught me and I turned around.
"Hey! It's you," I said my voice pretending to be surprise. "Why were you here?" What a stupid question? Of course he's here to party.
"You work in here?" he asked me not letting go off my hand.
"Yes, I work in here," I said. He was not looking at me; he was staring at me. Why? Do I look ugly to him? Do I have something on my face?
"What's your name?" he asked me.
"I'm Paige McLeish" I replied.
"Paige McLeish? The writer?" he asked his eyebrow raised.
"Yes. How'd you know I'm a writer" I ask him. He doesn't seem to be reading my books. I looked at his hands and that's when he let go of my hand.
"Sorry about that," he said. His ears were turning red and I don't know why. I just smiled. "My sister was reading your books. She seems to like them. I'm Freddie by the way. Freddie Rick."
"Freddie Rick, the CEO?" I ask him my eyes widening. He, the guy I met yesterday only wearing a t-shirt and pants was the CEO? I never met him before or even seen him. I never thought that he was the CEO of our company. He was so young to be the CEO.
"I'm sorry, sir for disturbing you," I suddenly said when I found out what his position was. I'm really embarrassed. When we first met he accidentally bumped me and I stared at him for a long time! And now he was the CEO? How could I face him now? "I - I need to go now. Someone was - uhm - waiting for me and there he was. Bye now."
I walked away immediately and he doesn't seem to stop me this time. "Where have you been?" I turned and saw Brian. Oh! I forgot about him.
"Sorry. I just went to the restroom," I said. I looked back but I didn't see Freddie anywhere. Where was he? Why didn't he stop me? And why am I thinking all of these?
"Here's your drink," he said giving me the drink. "I am really bored. The parties of this company were always so boring. The music was so old ......" I was not listening to what he was saying. I can't seem to concentrate right now. I was thinking about Freddie. I can't believe he was the CEO? Why didn't I see him before? Oh, right. He was always in his office, working and when he needs something he just pushed a button and someone will be there. I always heard that the secretaries were all drooling over him. When I heard that I just laughed at them. I didn't know that the guy they were drooling was so handsome!
"Earth to Paige," Brian was waving at my face. "Were you listening to me?"
"Yes, yes," I lied.
He smiled and continued what he was saying. I looked around and if lucky I could just see him even a glimpse of him.
At the dance floor, there I saw him with a girl so pretty that every guy who she passes by will look at her. Maybe she was his girlfriend or even his wife. I just looked away and listen to Brian's words.
When the party ended, "Want me to take you home?" Brian asked me.
"Thanks Brian, but you can't," I said. "See you tomorrow, okay? We still have to go to work."
Brian smiled and kissed me at my cheeks. "Just make sure you will get home safe. Promise me."
"I promise. Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself," I told him.
I waved goodbye to him and he waved back.
I was alone in the sidewalk waiting for a taxi. I forgot to bring my jacket along. It was so cold out here. And the taxi always had a passenger. I was really shaking now. Was it going to rain? No, please! I don't have my umbrella.
My arms were crossed and I was really getting worried that I couldn't get a taxi. I should have accepted Brian's offer. After half an hour of waiting, I was shaking so badly. The wind was blowing so hard. I am sure it will rain.
Then I heard a car's horn. I looked up and saw a car at my left. Was that car horning at me? Then to my surprise Freddie came out of the car.
"Why were you here?" he asked me. He took off his coat and placed it around my body. "You were shaking. Need a lift?"
"No, no! I just wait a taxi in here. I'm alright," I said. "And thanks for the coat." The coat was so soft.
He looked at me with his eyes so gentle my knees tumbled. "Hey!" he said catching me. "Were you really alright?" his voice was so worried that I want to hug him tightly and say that I'm alright. "I will take you home. And don't make any excuses."
I was about to make some excuse but he seems to read my mind. "I can go home by myself," I finally said. "And maybe your wife was waiting for you."
He laughed. "My wife? I'm not married."
"Sorry. I thought you already got married," I said not looking at him. I was still thinking about the girl she was dancing with. Am I jealous?
"Even a girlfriend, I don't have one," he said smiling at me. That smile, that gentle sweet smile. "And now, it's really getting cold in here. Let's get in the car."
He opened the door in the front seat and I got in. He was really a gentleman. He got in also and started the car. "Where do you live?" he asked me.
"In Sunriseville," I replied. It was so cold inside the car. The air conditioner was in its high power.
He saw me shaking and turned the air conditioner lower. "Don't you have your car?" he asked me.
"My sister borrowed my car. Hers was being repaired. And I can't say no to my sister. He was older than me. And my parents would be angry with me if I didn't agree with it," I said.
At that ride, we talked about many things. He told me about his life and I told him mine. He told me he was the only son of the president of the company. He was afraid of his father that was why he always obeys whatever his father wants him to do. He told me that his father never listened to what he said. He doesn't have any freedom to say what he thinks. For his father it was not worth it to listen to a man like him. His mother died when he was still young. Because of that loss, his father became so cold to him. When he told me those things I can't believe it. I've seen the president and he looked so kind.
After he told me his story, I told him mine. "I have a sister named Alicia. She was so beautiful that many rich men like her. She was my parents' favorite."
"What's your sister's like?" he asked me.
"Why? Do you want to meet her?" I said suddenly feeling sad. Maybe he was interested with my sister. "She's nice. She was a good dancer and she has a very good sense of humor. She was really nice to me. And she was going to be engaged with a guy we don't know who. My parents will decide."
"Really?" he said his voice looking interested. "You know what? My father is the one who will choose who I am going to marry. Actually, he already chose the girl. But I want to marry someone who I love. Someone who I can spend my whole life with. Someone who will never get tired of loving me."
I was looking at him when he said those words. I can't believe a guy like him can say those words. I thought he was like the other guys who like collecting girls and leave them after. But I was wrong. He was different. He was so sensitive when it comes to love.
"Can I ask you something?" he asked.
"What was it?" I said erasing that thought.
"Do you like a guy - like me?" he asked me. I stared at him. "I mean, uhm, what do you like in a guy?"
I smiled to him. "Well, don't laugh at me, okay."
"Why would I laugh at you?" he asked me looking curious.
"What I like in a guy was - I want him to be like the characters in my stories." I answered.
He paused for a while and then he said, "Was that possible?"
"I don't know," I said thinking. Was it really impossible to meet someone like that?
"Well, alright," he said. He didn't ask anymore question after.
We talked about ourselves and other things about ourselves. After a long ride, at last the car stopped in front of our house. "Nice house," he said.
"Thanks. Want to go inside first?" I asked him.
"No need. I need to do something. Thanks for the offer anyway," he said. He gets out of the car and opened the door for me.
"Thank you," I said. He was about to go back to his car when I remembered that I was wearing his coat. "Hey, your coat." I removed his coat then gave it to him.
"Oh, right," he said. "Bye then. Hope to see you tomorrow."
I waved at him and he left. I was so happy that we talked and have some time together. I really hope to see him tomorrow.
***
The following day, all my co-workers were looking at me. What's up? What did I do? Why were all these people staring at me? Did I get a promotion or what? Did I do something wrong? I walked faster to get away from these people. I opened the door to my office and sigh.
I was really surprise when I got into my office. My office was full of flowers. Who did this? Who sends this? Was this why the people outside staring at me?
I touch the flowers then smelled it, "It smells wonderful," I roamed around and checked out all the flowers. The smell of it filed the room. I feel like I was in a garden full of flowers. Then I remembered something. Flowers? Filled in a room? I suddenly remember it. In my story "Forever" the guy filled the bedroom of his girlfriend. Different flower everywhere and the smell of it filled the room.
Who sends this? Brian? Freddie? I look for a card; in my story the guy put a card in the most beautiful flower. In the middle, was the most beautiful flower, white rose, my favorite!
I looked for the card and at last, I found it. I opened it and read. "Thanks for the wonderful night. You were such a wonderful girl. I want you to have dinner with me this day. I'll pick you up at 8 o'clock. Hope to see you. Freddie"
I smiled. I felt so wonderful like I'm the happiest girl in the world. Right now, I want to go shopping and buy a beautiful dress for our date.
That night, I was so happy fixing my hair and applying makeup in the face. I should look beautiful tonight. Then there's a knock on my door. "Who was it?" I called.
"It's me, Alicia," my sister answered. "Can I come in?"
"Sure, sure," I said.
She opened the door and stared at me. "Where were you going? Were you going on a date?"
"It's none of your business," I said still now putting mascara in my eyelashes.
"Who was the guy?" she still continues asking questions. "Was he rich? Handsome?" She sat on my bed and waiting for my answer.
"He's a great guy," I answered. "Want to meet him?" Well, I'm afraid that when Freddie sees my sister he will forget all about me and go out with my sister. I can't help it if she was more beautiful than I am. What can I do right? I can't have a plastic surgery to make my face more beautiful than my sister's.
"I want to meet him," she said. I looked at her thinking why she wants to meet Freddie. Does she want to flirt with him and let him fall in love with her? Does she want to get Freddie away from me?
"Maybe you could meet him," I said.
She smiled and laid on my bed.
At 8 o'clock, the doorbell rang. "I'll get it," my sister called. I heard the door opened but no one called me from my room. It Freddie, I thought. It's 8 already but he wasn't here yet. Did he forget our date? Did he change his mind? When I went to look who it was, I saw Freddie standing at our doorway. He wore a beautiful black coat and black pants.
I saw Alicia talking to him. Freddie saw me looking at them and he smiled at me. Alicia saw me coming and she went straight to the living room not saying any word. That's odd. What happened?
"Ready?" he asked me.
"Ready," I answered.
***
We went to the fanciest restaurant in the city. It's so nice in there especially when the lights were turned on.
"I already reserved a table for us," he told me.
"Excited, huh," I teased.
"Just want to make this date special because it's our first date," he said. He offered me his hand and I took it. I saw our table in the middle of the restaurant. He pulled the chair for me and I sat down. The table was rounded and was covered with white cloth with roses printed on the sides.
"Here's the menu," the waiter said. He gave us the menu and I started to read. My eyes widened because of the prices. It's so expensive in here.
"Have you already picked something to eat?" he asked me.
"Not yet," I replied looking at the menu again.
All the foods look delicious. I looked at the list of courses. Dilled Brie with Smoked Salmon, Chicken Marbella, Prune and Almond Stuffed Pork Loin, Chicken in Grand Marnier, Shrimp Mold, Elegant Mushroom Beef Wellington, Maple Mustard Chicken, Lobster, etc. In the desserts, Bailey's Irwash Cream Cheesecake, Chocolate Fudge Cake, Mascarpone Cheesecake, Lovelight Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Decadent Butterscotch Nut Coffee Cake, Molten Chocolate Cakes, Peaches in Stawberry Cream and. Showy Raspberry Fudge Tarts.
I don't know what to pick. "So?" he asked again.
"I want the chicken in grand marnier," I answered. "And for desert molten chocolate cakes."
"Me, I want the dilled brie with smoked salmon and for desert, let it be like the order of this beautiful lady in front of me," he said looking at me.
I smiled at him and gave the menu back to the waiter.
"Do you like this place," he asked me looking straight at my eyes.
I feel like my body became numb because of that. "Yes. It's so warming in here. This place looks nice."
"Do you like the flowers I gave you this morning?" he asked me.
"Of course. It's so wonderful and sweet. Thank you," I said. I paused for a moment then, "Can I ask you something?" My heart was pounding. He nodded. "Where did you get that idea?"
"It's my own idea," he smiled.
I raised my eyebrow. "Really?"
"Don't look at me like that," he said. "You don't believe me, do you?"
"Maybe," I said smiling. "Alright. I believe now."
He smiled. "What were you doing when you're sad?"
"Me? I go to our rest house. It's very nice in there," I said.
The food came and it smelled delicious. We ate then after he asked me to dance. That night was so wonderful. I never had so much fun in my life.
At quarter to 11, we reached my house. "I had so much fun," I said. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," he said. He gets out of the car and opened the door for me. "Hope to see you tomorrow Paige. Good night."
"Good night Freddie," I said. I waved goodbye to him and he gets inside his car and drove away.
***
I had a wonderful sleep that night. I felt so happy and in love? Was this love I'm feeling? The following morning, I wore my beautiful red dress. "What's up with you?" Alicia asked me when I entered our dining room for breakfast. "Had a great night?"
"Yes," I said smiling. I get a bowl and spoon. I opened the refrigerator and pick up the milk. I saw Alicia looking at me. Why was she looking at me like that? I sat down and poured milk on my bowl.
"Can you please pass the cereal?" I said.
"Here," she said. "Where did you go last night? You got home really late."
"We just had dinner," I replied stirring my cereal.
Alicia didn't talk for a moment. "If you only know," she whispered.
"What's that?" I asked her. I stared at her. Actually I heard what she said but I don't know what it meant. If only I know, what? What was that thing I don't know?
"Oh, nothing," she said eating her cereal.
I felt so curious like I want to ask her what it meant. I've known Alicia for so long, I know she will not tell me.
After a few minutes my mother came in and saw me, "Don't you have work today Paige?"
"I have," I answered. "I'll just finish eating and I'll leave."
When I done I said goodbye to them. I wish I could see Freddie. I smiled and feel very excited to go to work. It was like going to my job for the first time. I felt so excited.
"Good morning," the security guard greeted me.
"Good morning to you too," I greeted back.
"You look gorgeous today," he said.
"Thank you," I said to him.
I went to my office and in my table was a white card. I picked it up and started reading, "I had a great night last night. Can you have lunch with me this afternoon? I'll just pick you up in your office at 11 o'clock. If you don't want to have lunch with me, I'll still pick you up. You don't have a choice (There's a smiley in the card). Love, Freddie."
I laughed and put the card in my bag. I started working and every minute I was looking at the clock. Why am I so excited? It was just lunch. It was not a date, right? Or was it? I shook my head and get back to work but my mind was not working properly. I'm only thinking about Freddie and our lunch together.
At 10:30 I arrange myself. I retouched my makeup and brushed my hair. I looked at my reflection and smiled. I put all my makeup in my bag and some other things I needed. After a few minutes, there was a knock and Freddie came in. "Hi there," he greeted. "Ready?"
"Ready. I'll just turn off my computer and arrange some things. Can you wait for me in a second?" I asked shutting down my computer and getting my bag.
"Sure," he said smiling and waited for me to be ready.
When I'm finished we went out. I was surprise that all the people around us were staring at us. I just looked down. I heard some voices around me. They were gossiping! How could they?! Well, I couldn't blame them, I was dating our CEO.
"What's wrong?" he asked me.
"All the people in that room were staring at us," I said softly. "I heard some voices and I'm sure they were talking about us. What if they start a gossip about us? That will ruin your reputation!"
"That's alright," he said holding my hand. "They were just jealous. I don't care if some gossip started. The important thing was we know that it's not true or maybe some of it was true." He smiled so gently to me. I looked at him and I smiled back. He held my hand more tightly and I held it back. I'm glad Freddie was a nice guy. I'm so glad that I met someone like him in my life.
***
The following days were so sweet. All the things he did for me were like the things my characters did in my books. Like when he brought me to a place where all the flowers were arranged neatly to form my name. It was in my book entitled, "The White Princess". When he gave me a locket where my name was engraved on it, it was in my book entitled, "The Locket". Also when it was about midnight, we were in a field were many trees surrounded it and lights suddenly turned on. It was so beautiful. It was so romantic. There we did our first kiss. At first I don't know what to do because it was my first kiss. But he taught me. He told me I was a fast learner. I just felt so relieve and just enjoy our kiss.
We were officially lovers that day. We do what normal couples do. All the people in the company know about it. And I'm afraid what if the President found out about it.
***
"Wait for me in the living room," I said to Freddie. We were about to go on an art gallery. He told me he wanted to show me some arts he loves. Freddie was an art guy. He was a great painter.
"Alright," he said smiling. He walked straight to the living room and I went to my room to change. I didn't take a long time to change and fixed myself. When I got back I saw Freddie and Alicia talking to each other seriously. What were they talking about? I didn't enter the room and I hope to hear some words they were talking but I couldn't hear a thing. I sighed and entered the room slowly. They saw me and shock can see in my sister's face.
She didn't say a word and she just left the room. Well, that was odd. I looked at Freddie but he just smiled at me. I just leave it alone. I don't want to talk about it. And I think it was nothing important.
The art gallery for me was quite boring. I got no interest in art but Freddie does. Well, what can I do? The art he showed me was interesting. I never thought a painter could paint such a realistic drawing. Freddie asked me to pose for him because he wants to paint me. I'm so excited because it was Freddie who was going to paint my picture.
I was so tired of smiling and when he signaled to me that he was finished he showed me his drawing. "Oh my God! It's beautiful," I said smiling widely. The drawing was so realistic that it looks alive.
"Do you think so?" he asked.
"Of course," I said.
"Because I thought my drawing was not as beautiful as you" he said picking up the canvas.
I blushed and he hugged me. "Do you want to keep it?" he asked me.
"Can I?" I said.
"Sure you can," he said smiling.
"Oh thank you so much," I said getting the canvas from him. "I'll treasure it."
He kissed my cheek and then I kiss his lips. "Well, that's not equal," he said his eyebrow raise. He smiled and kissed my lips.

FREDDIE
Some days after, we were just finished eating our lunch when father called me. "I need to go now, Paige," I said. "My father was calling me. Maybe it's something important."
"Oh. Alright," Paige said.
We finished our food and we returned to the building. I immediately went to my father's office. Father was not calling me this time of day. Maybe it was really important. I knocked and I heard my father called, "Come in."
"Why did you call me?" I asked. "Was there any problem?"
"Was it true about you and Ms. Paige McLeish?" my father asked me.
I stared at him and said, "Yes."
"Were you out of your mind?!" he half shouted. "You were engaged and the engagement party is in three days. Did you tell that girl you were engaged?"
"Yes I did," I lied. Paige would be surprised if she found out. I need to break up this engagement. Maybe if I proposed to Paige - but - I was engage to -
"So, what did she say?" my father interrupted my thoughts.
I didn't answer. "You break up with that girl. Did you hear me? Break up with her!" my father ordered.
"I can't father," I said my voice so confident.
"You can't? Why? You love her?! Were you sure you love her? You are engage and that's final," father bellowed. "If you can't break up with her I will move the engagement party in two days. And she will lose her job and she will never get any job anymore. I will make her life miserable. Now get out of here!"
I was shocked. I don't know what to say. I felt angry and scared for Paige. I just nodded and left the room. I felt so disappointed. I don't know what to do now. How can I break up with Paige if I love her so much? And the engagement, I need to do something to break up this engagement. But - my father was so powerful that I'm afraid he will hurt my Paige. What should I do? What?

PAIGE
Freddie was really different after he talked with his father. I was so worried to what her father said to him. Did they talk about us?
"Were you alright?" I asked him. "I'm worried Freddie."
He looked at me and he put his hand on my face. "You know that I love you so much Paige."
"I know that," I said.
"And you know that I will do anything for you. That I will sacrifice anything just to make you happy and make your life wonderful. That I will not let anybody hurt you." he continue.
"What were you up to? Why were you like that?" I asked my heart pounding. I felt so weak like something bad was going to happen.
"Please tell me you love me," he said.
"I love you so much. I love you with all my heart," I said.
He smiled weakly and then he said, "The engagement party - I - we need to break up. My father already decided who I'm going to marry and because of you I already forgot all about it. Our love for each other was more important than anything."
My eyes widened and tears were leaking in my face. "Please don't cry," he said. "Please Paige. I don't want to see you cry." His eyes were so soft that I cried much harder.
I pushed his hand away and shouted, "You love me, huh? Were you making fun of me? I don't believe that you love. If you do, you will do anything for me. You will break that engagement and be with me. How could you?! I can't believe you break up with me because of your engagement. Why didn't you tell me you were already engaged? How could you? I hate you!"
"Please let me explain, Paige," he said softly. "There's a good reason why we need to break up."
"Don't say another word," I shouted. "I don't believe in anything you will say. You are a liar. Goodbye Mr. Rick."
I walked away and he didn't follow me. He just shouted, "Please believe me Paige. I love you so much."
At that, my tears were nonstop. I can't believe Freddie would do that to me. I can't believe I believe his words that I am the only one who he loves. And now, he broke up with me because he was engaged. I'm so stupid! Why do I love him so much? Now I can't stop the pain I'm feeling. It really hurts. My heart was in pain. That's why I don't want to fall in love. I don't want to feel this. I don't want to feel this pain.
***
That night, Brain visited me. I really miss Brian, we haven't talk since Freddie and I - that. My eyes were so red and swollen from crying. "Your sister called me. Were you alright?" he asked me.
He sat in my bed beside me and he looked at me. I was in bed feeling so sick. I don't feel so good. My voice was shaking when I answered him, "Do I look alright?"
"No," he answered honestly. "You don't need to be like that. Where was the Paige I know? The strong Paige I love - I mean, back then. My closest friend? Did she just disappear because someone hurt her feelings?"
"You don't know what you were saying. Do you know what I felt? Do you know how much pain I felt right now? Tell me!" I said starting to cry again.
Brian paused for a moment looking at me. "That's love Paige. When you were in love you experience being hurt. That's normal. You can't stop that pain I know. Like what happened to me back then, I also experience being hurt by someone I love." He said.
"What happened?" I asked him.
"When you didn't accept me," he said. "Well. It really hurts you know. I drunk all night but at that experience I became strong. I learned that being in love was about being hurt and also being love by someone that deserve my love. I don't mean to say that you need to drink and drink too. I'm just saying be strong and that pain will disappear."
"Does it really hurt so badly?" I asked him.
"Yeah," he said. I heard him sigh. "Change topic. I don't want to talk about my love life."
I laughed.
"I'm glad to hear you laugh again. Get up and we will have fun. I'll treat you to Wonderland." He said. Wonderland was this amazing amusement park.
"In Wonderland? You have a ticket?" I asked looking a bit happy about it.
"Luckily a while ago my raffle ticket won and I won two tickets in Wonderland," he said. "Were you coming or not? If not, I'll just ask your sister to go with me." He stood up and waved goodbye to me.
"I'm coming," I said immediately.
He smiled at me. "Get up and change. I'll be outside your room," he said. He left my room and I quickly changed.
Brian was so kind. Why didn't I love him before? I feel that he still loves me. Can't I love him? Can't I learn to love him? Can I teach my heart to love Brian or someone else?
When we arrive at Wonderland we try all the rides. The roller coaster, space mountain, the haunted house, carousel, and much more. At the haunted house I was laughing so hard because Brian was a so scared. I can't believe a guy like him was scared of ghost. We tried the Ferris wheel last. Inside we talk.
"Did you have fun?" he asked me. We sat beside each other and I enjoy the view outside.
"Of course I did," I said smiling. "For some moments I forget Freddie. I think I need to have fun to forget him. Thank you."
"No need to thank me," he said. "You're a special friend to me. I don't want you to feel sad. I don't want to see you sad. It hurts my feeling you know."
"Do you still love me?" I asked him.
He looked at me and said, "Of course I do. It's not just snapping my finger and my love for you was gone." His face was blushing. I smiled.
"Hope I can love you. Hope I can repay your love for me," I said.
"You don't need to love me back. I know it's hard to love someone else especially if there's already a person in your heart," he said. "You can't teach your heart to love someone else. You will feel the pain much more if you tried to love someone else. Time to time, you will somehow forget your feelings for him. But sometimes it takes years to forget someone especially if he became a really important part of your life."
I smiled to him. "Thank you for being such a good friend," I said.
He smiled still blushing. I laughed and teased him, "Why was your face as red as a tomato?"
"It's just that, you know, a guy like me talking about love," he said not looking at me.
"You should be doctor love," I teased.
He laughed and after a few minutes our ride was over. I felt so relieved and we decided to go home.
***
This was the day, Freddie's engagement party. Everybody was invited and we all need to attend.
I wore my pretty pink dress. I was surprise that when I woke up my parents and sister weren't at home. Where had they gone to? They didn't wake me up or just leave a message to me. Where were they?
Brain picked me up a few minutes after. "You're gorgeous," he complimented.
"Thank you for the compliment," I said.
We went to the party and saw that the whole building was decorated. "How romantic?" I said feeling slightly hurt. "This party was really arranged."
"Have you seen the girl? Freddie's fiancé?" Brian asked me.
"Not yet. I can assure that she was really beautiful. I am nothing compared to that girl," I said feeling weak. I think I should just go home.
"You were the most beautiful girl for me," Brian told me.
I smiled at him and we went to find our table. After a few minutes, the party started. "Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen. Were here to celebrate the engagement of two young couples," the host started. "Both were handsome and beautiful. They were a son and daughter of a wealthy family. Let me present to you ladies and gentlemen Mr. Freddie Rick and Ms. Alicia McLeish."
There was applause and my eyes widened. Alicia McLeish? My sister Alicia? I looked up and saw Freddie with my sister Alicia on stage. Brian was looking at me his eyes were widened with shock too. I can't believe Alicia was Freddie's fiancé. When? How? Why didn't they tell me? How could they? Freddie knows that Alicia was my sister, why didn't he tell me? And Alicia, I can't believe it. My own sister? She knows that Freddie and I were couples. Why didn't she tell me? Was that why when I entered the room and the two of them were talking they stopped when they saw me? Does Freddie just come into my life just to be close to my sister? So that he could see what my sister was like? Were they seeing each other behind my back?
In the stage, Freddie and Alicia were smiling and now hand shaking with the president and some other important person. I don't want to see them. I don't want to see anyone!
I ran outside and called a taxi. I don't care if those people talk about me or think anything bad about me. I don't care with anything anymore. I want to leave. To leave those people who betrayed me. I went to our family's rest house near the Port Lake. The place was so creepy because of so many trees. The taxi didn't want to go farther because the road in there was slippery. I paid the taxi and just walked.
I need a place where I can rest. Where no one will talk to me and hurt me. I want to be alone! I stayed in there for a long time. No one was looking for me. Only my family and well, I mention this to Freddie but he doesn't know where this was and I'm sure he wasn't looking for me. He must be having a great time in that party. And I'm here, all alone crying for him!
The rain was pouring so hard outside. I heard a loud bang just near here. What's that? Was that a thunder? I look outside but I can't see anything. It was so dark.
The party must have ended right now. It was so dark outside. Rain was pouring in the window and the thunder was scaring me. I wish someone could be with me. I wish - I wish Freddie was here with me.
I started to cry again. Why did I love him? He just played with my heart! I can't believe I bought it. I can't believe I love him. But he showed me what love was. How to be loved? It just hurts so much.
The door burst open and I saw Alicia so wet because of the rain. She was catching her breath.
"Why were you here?! Leave me alone!" I shouted. "Get out! I don't want to see you! If you don't get out I'm the one who will leave!"
I looked at her still catching her breath. "Paige, I'm really sorry for not telling you," Alicia said. "We need to go. You must go with me."
"No!" I shouted.
"Paige, Freddie -," she started. Her eyes were red, she must be crying.
"What happened to Freddie?" I said my voice suddenly became worried.
"His car hit a tree just near here. I don't know what happened but he was in the hospital right now," Alicia said. "We must go now."
I don't know what to think. Freddie was in the hospital? I want to see him. I want to see if he was all right. He - he went to look for me! He wants to see me! That loud sound I heard. Was that Freddie?
***
We arrived at the hospital a few minutes after. I was still weak because of what I heard about Freddie. I don't want to lose him. I don't want him to die because of me. I want to see him. Spend my life with him.
He was still at the operating room. I was praying so hard to let the operation be successful and let Freddie be all right. The operation takes a long time. It was about an hour when the doctor came out.
"Doctor?" I heard a woman say. It must be Freddie's mother.
"He's alright now," the doctor said. "He lost so many blood and I need a donor for him. His left arm was broken but it will be fine in about a month."
I heard a sigh of relief from the people in there. I'm so happy that Freddie was all right. But - it was my entire fault Freddie was here. If I just listen to what he wants to say that day. If I just listen to his explanation, he will not get an accident. It was my entire fault!
"I will donate my blood doctor," I heard Freddie's mother says. "I'm his mother after all. We have the same type of blood."
"Alright then," the doctor said. "Come with me." I look at them get inside the room.
"Alicia?" I said to Alicia. "I need to get out. I need to leave."
"Why?" she asked. We went in the corner where nobody would hear us.
"It is all my fault, Alicia," I said crying. "Freddie was here because of me. I was the one who should be blame for this. It's all my fault."
"It's not your fault, Paige," my sister said softly. "It's Freddie's decision to come to you. You know what happened in the engagement party? He said to all those people in there who he really loves and who he wants to spend his life with. He said you name Paige. He said your name. He talked to Brian and asked where you had gone. He said you must be in our rest house. I'm the one who told him where that was."
"Freddie loves me?" I asked. "He really loves me?"
"Of course he does," my sister said. "I'm the one who told him not to tell you that we were engaged. He told me he was planning things to stop our engagement. But you know what his father was like. He's so cruel and powerful!"
"Why would you not tell me?" I said.
"I don't want to hurt your feelings. I thought our engagement will break and you will not know anything about it," Alicia explained. "I don't want you to be hurt. And Freddie doesn't want to hurt you also. He told me he loves you so much. I can feel that his love for you was real Paige. And I know you felt it too."
I smiled and hug her. "Thank you Alicia," I said.
I heard someone call my name and I turned around to see everyone was looking at me. "Paige?" the doctor called.
"I'm Paige, doctor," I said walking towards him.
"Mr. Rick wants to talk to you," he said.
I looked at my sister and she signaled a thumb up. I smiled at her. I nodded at the doctor and went inside the room.
I saw Freddie sitting up. "Hey! You should lie down," I said. I walked forward and stopped a few inches from his bed.
His face was still handsome even though there were wounds. In his left cheek were stitches. His left arm was bandaged. "I'm sorry," I cried. "It's all my fault that you were here. If you didn't come after me, this will not happen to you."
"Shh, don't say sorry to me," he said smiling. "Come closer."
I walked slowly. His right arm pulled me and he hugged me tightly. "Don't ever leave me Paige," he said. "I can't let you leave me again."
I hugged him back. "I will never leave you. I will die if I live you. I can' live without you in my life."
He explained to me everything. Why he broke up with me, what his father told him, what he planned to stop the engagement, everything!
"Let's not talk about it," I said. "The important thing right now was that you were okay."
He hugged me more tightly. "This was not a romantic spot but Paige, will you marry me?" he asked me.
I looked at him my eyes widened. "You don't have a ring," I smiled. He looked at me curiously. "I'm just joking. I'll marry you Freddie Rick."
"I love you so much Paige," he said. "I want to spend my whole life with you."
"I love you too," I said. "Thanks for making me happy. I've known so many guys but you were the only one who makes my heart beat. You were the one who I want to spend my life with. The one I can't live without. Thanks for being a perfect man for me. I never thought I would meet a guy so perfect like my characters in my book. I never thought they would all exist in you. Thank you for being the one."
I just remembered something. "The things you did? Was that really your idea?"
He laughed. "No," he said. "Remember that my sister was reading your books? I ask her to tell me everything that the leading man does to his love one."
I smiled at him. He started kissing me. "I love you Paige," he said. He didn't let me speak because he started kissing me again.
***
Freddie's father had accepted me as Freddie's fiancé. He said sorry to me and I accepted his apology. Before we got married, it was Alicia's wedding first. She met a rich guy in one of her seminars. They were prefect for each other. I'm so happy that Alicia met the perfect guy for her. In her wedding, I am the maid of honor. They went to Paris for their honeymoon.
Brian also met a girl when he visited his parents in Florida. His parents were so happy when the two of them became lovers. They were the one who insisted Brian to court her. I was laughing so hard when he once told me that he would die if the two of them became lovers. But he was so glad he courted the girl and he loves her so much. He told me that if he didn't meet that girl, he will lose a very big part of his life. He told me he would propose to her and ask some advice what to do. I told him he should make it so romantic. His own idea of romance.
Freddie and I got married after about 2 years. All of our family and relatives attended our wedding. That was the happiest day of my life. Alicia, her husband and their daughter Patricia who was only one year old also attended our wedding. Also Brian and her wife, Juliet came. After about a year, I wrote a book entitled "Perfect". It was Freddie's love story and mine. I wrote everything what happened to us. When I wrote that book everything seems so perfect. My life and the guy for me. For me, Freddie was the most perfect guy that I met. Not as perfect as my other characters but more perfect than those. He was the one for me. The perfect man for me.
THE END

Thank you for reading my story 'Perfect'.
And I am not like Paige, I am not looking for a guy who is the characters in my story. And yes, I met the perfect guy for me. :)
Don't forget to leave me a message. Thank you so much!

And I am not like Paige, I am not looking for a guy who is the characters in my story. And yes, I met the perfect guy for me. :)
