Perfect Gifts - There are Good Ones, Great Ones Even Excellent Ones But is There a Perfect Gift
The holiday season is coming again and thoughts of buying gifts for each of our family members and friends starts to become for some people STRESSFUL!! Not everyone but some people worry about their gift giving to a point that they constantly are thinking about how to better last year’s gift. If last year’s gift was good, is there a better one for this year? Is there a perfect gift?
There are unique gifts like a new pet or a handmade gift. There are memorable ones like a trip or a great set of concert tickets. There are quality ones like a watch or diamond earrings for special occasions. We spend allot of time picking out gifts for the one’s we love and for our friends not just for the Christmas season but all year long. Do we ever find the perfect gift or at the end of it all are we still asking ourselves what is the perfect gift?
I remember when I was a kid and it was Christmas time. There was a gift that I had been waiting for and hopping I would get for the longest time. I got up in the morning and ran down stairs to see the tree with all the presents piled under and around it. We sat there as dad handed each gift out to us and I opened each one but my most wanted present did not show up. You know that I was somewhat upset about it all and I think back I don’t even remember the other gifts I got.
Dad let me brew over it for a while and finally said to me you know that special gift you wanted it is in the house but you will have to find it. I spent 1 hour looking for it and found it in the garage in the back seat of the family car under some blankets. The point here is this, that’s what I remember today, is how much effort dad put into making that the perfect gift, the one that I would remember all my life. I will remember that gift the rest of my life but even more I remember the way dad gave it to me. .
A great gift comes from the heart. The time you put into finding it, the time you put into giving it, and the time you spend with the person you’re giving it to. When selecting a gift, ask yourself would I want this for myself? If it is special to you it will be special to them. Spend time preparing the present your giving and don’t just throw on some cheap wrapping paper. You could disguise the gift as this makes the opening of it much more memorable .
I once put a small gift in a big box and hung a wind chime on the inside as I knew she liked to shake the boxes. No Matter where I was in the house I could hear the chime every time she touched the box. Try adding a beautiful hand written note to make your gift even more personalized. All this adds towards a great and memorable gift.
I really don’t think there is a perfect gift that you can just buy. I have been in the gift industry for thirty years and I have not seen one item that fits the perfect gift for everyone. I know we will all keep looking for one and I hope this will help you in your search for a unique and memorable present. The question is, after time goes by will you remember the gift or the time you had with the people you were with and love. I remember my dad like it was yesterday not the gifts he gave me but the time he put into giving them to me. I wish I could have told him that. Life doesn’t come with a bow on it, but life is still the perfect gift.
