Japanese garden waterfall ponds are small, intimate places to be at one with nature. The serene area gives visitors a feeling of peace and tranquility. These artistic displays use nature as a medium. Decide where you want your ponds and waterfalls and from there you can build the rest of your garden.

A waterfall can be constructed from rock or pre-built plastic molds that have a rock like appearance. You can do it yourself or hire someone to build your waterfall pond. Once you have the pond and waterfall in place you can add other live elements such as; Koi, plants, and paths. Your garden is a living piece of artwork that you can visit to experience the calm, peaceful effects of nature.

In a Japanese garden, each element that is used has some symbolism. Groups of stones are used to symbolize mountains, islands, and human strength and endurance. These are traditionally added in groups of odd numbers. Paths through the garden are made of stones and weave through the garden and past statues, ponds, waterfalls and plants. This path is symbolic of your journey through life. Bridges are another symbol of your life path and the bridges you build as you go through your life.

While traditional Japanese gardens have many elements considered during construction you may just want a tranquil place of beauty of your own to enjoy. There is no right or wrong way to plan your Japanese waterfall garden. As long as you put in a good filtration system in your pond, you have your waterfalls running into the main body of water, and you are able to enjoy a peaceful moment away from the noise of the neighborhood there are no limitations on your plans.
