Paula
A birthday present for my Mom.

Picking up the pieces of our broken lives and making them new,
You are the heart and soul of this family,
Keeping us together, no matter what curve ball life threw.
Teaching us to walk and talk,
The things you taught us made us bloom,
"Clean up, get dressed and brush your teeth."
"Stop that or you’ll end up in the emergency room."
You were, and still are the negotiator in our sibling rivalry,
"Kiss and make up or go to your room,"
"Don’t hit your brother, don’t hit your sister,"
"Don’t play with your food"; I think we heard that a time or two.
There were 4 of us and boy did we keep you busy,
Handing us the soap to clean our dirty hands,
Kissing the many scrapes on our knees,
You always had time for all of our demands.
A shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen,
The times we needed you, you were always there,
The bad times and the good, no matter which came,
You always let us know how much you care.
There are times we didn't say thank you,
But you always knew we meant to,
Mom to this day we appreciate the things you did for us,
We always appreciated them more than you knew.
The advice you gave us followed us through the years,
You made the big things seem so small,
You taught us and guided us showing us the way,
Without you we wouldn't have known what to do at all.
You helped us weather many storms,
And you were there when things were calm,
We love you and will always need you,
Thank you for being our Mom.
