Paula Abdul Not Sleeping at Home since Death of Fan
Paula Abdul has abandoned her Los Angeles home after the suicide death of a fan outside the house three weeks ago.
The suicide death of an avid fan outside her Los Angeles home three weeks ago has apparently left Paula Abdul shaken. The former pop star and current judge on the hit show "American Idol" admitted that she had not stayed at home since the incident. "I’ve been staying in different homes and hotels, and I have security with me." Abdul went on to speak about the death of Paula Goodspeed, the fan who had earlier auditioned for Idol during the show’s fifth season.
Said Abdul, "It was very tragic and very upsetting to hear. She had tried to do this before, and it was just heartbreaking…It was the middle of Hollywood week, and it happened while I was actually working at the Kodak Theatre, and it was devastating to hear." Apparently the suicide occurred during the day, but Idol producers didn’t tell Abdul about the incident until filming was over for the day.
The incident also occurred amidst a flurry of activity for Abdul, who was working on the new American Idol season at the time, has recently taped a new MTV cheerleading show called "Rah!" and has also been working on the launch of her Forever Your Girl accessories line. Abdul, however, noted that she enjoys work, saying it "gives me a diversion. I always feel like if I can divert my brain to something else then I’ll be okay. That’s why I like to multitask." Perhaps the clearest evidence that Abdul is spooked by her former residence and the events that transpired nearby is the fact that she is readying it to be placed on the market for sale. Said Abdul, "I am in the process of looking for another place to reside."
