Recently it was reported by the National Enquirer that Swayze had lost 20 pounds and only had five weeks to live. The actor’s doctor has slammed the reports and said, "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment so far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue." Swayze’s rep, Annett Wolf, said, "Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
Swayze’s mother, Patsy, a dancer and choreographer seemed optimistic about her son’s future. She reportedly told E! News, "I don’t really want to talk about it, but I know he’s sick. But he has great doctors and a great prognosis, and that’s all I can say." Swayze also has the support of his wife of 33 years, Lisa Niemi.
Swayze, 55, is best known for his roles in films like Dirty Dancing, Point Break, Road House, and Ghost. Recently he was cast in the big screen comedy Fired Up as a gay cheerleading coach. Filming on the movie began last month. He has also filmed a pilot for A&E called The Beast. He reportedly stars as an undercover FBI agent with some unconventional methods. The network is considering picking up the show for next season. He also recently filmed the indie flick Powder Blue where he plays a sleazy strip club owner. He stars alongside the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Jessica Biel, and Forest Whitaker.
