Pat Robertson Predicts Mass Killings in the United States
On Tuesday’s broadcast of "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network, televangelist Pat Robertson told listeners that God had spoken to him and told him that there will be "mass killings" in the autumn of 2007.

"I’m not necessarily saying it’s going to be nuclear," Robertson said. "The Lord didn’t say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that." The message from God came to Robertson during a recent prayer retreat. Robertson said that the Lord told him that a terrorist attack on the United States will affect major cities and possibly millions of people, and the attack will take place sometime after September.

Robertson is known for making annual predictions at the beginning of the year, many of which prove to be complete fabrications. He often pronounces his prognostications by saying that God personally told him something. In January of 2004, he predicted that President Bush would win re-election easily, yet Bush won only 51% of the vote in the fall when he beat Sen. John Kerry. In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have a long string of victories during his second term, and that his Social Security reform proposals would be approved. Yet the president’s Social Security initiative has stalled, and his victories have continued to dwindle over time.

Another message from God that Robertson announced Tuesday was that the United States is only feigning a friendship with Israel, because U.S. policies in the area are pushing Israel toward "national suicide." In January last year, Robertson said that Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had suffered a stroke because God was punishing him for giving land controlled by Israel to the Palestinians. Robertson later recanted his comments and wrote an apology to the Prime Minister’s son, Omri Sharon, saying, "My concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of the national grief experienced because of your father's illness."

Last spring Robertson said that God had told him a tsunami might crash into the coastline of America in 2006. When that prediction didn’t come true, he justified his failed prognostication by saying that last spring’s heavy rains and flooding in New England were what God was really talking about.

"I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss." Hopefully this will be another miss.
