Passion Fruit
Awaken your senses by eating passion fruits. These fruits though not native to America, are quickly growing in popularity and this is all thanks to the imports from where it originates. The passion fruit comes south Brazil, Paraguay and Northern Argentina, though they are now being grown in Australia and parts of America, Kenya and South Africa. The most popular passion fruit is the purple passion fruit, but there is also a variety that is yellow in color. Though this fruit is extremely sour, it is rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C. it is also a great source of potassium and iron. The passion fruit seeds are full of fibre. The passion fruit is a very versatile fruit, it can be eaten as it is or can be eaten with yogurt or ice cream, and it can also be made into delectable dessert.

Passion Fruit Chiffon Pie
Ingredients:
  • Gelatin – 1 tablespoon.
  • Water – ¼ cup.
  • Sugar – ¼ cup.
  • Eggs, separated – 4.
  • Passion fruit juice, pre-frozen and thawed – ½ cup.
  • Sugar – 6 tablespoons.
  • Pie shell, baked – 1 of 9 inches.
  • Heavy cream, whipped – 1 cup.
Preparation:
  • In a small bowl, mix the gelatin and water.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with the ¼ cup sugar.
  • Cook this mixture in a double boiler till it thickens.
  • Next add the gelatin mixture and stir till it dissolves well. Allow this to cool.
  • To this add the passion fruit juice and beat well till it is properly blended.
  • Allow it to cool till it thickens a bit but be careful so that it doesn’t set.
  • Now beat the egg whites in a bowl till it is frothy. Slowly add the 6 tablespoons of sugar till the mixture starts to become stiff.
  • Next add the passion fruit mixture to this egg white mixture and blend well.
  • Pour into the baked pie shell and put it in the refrigerator till it sets and is chilled.
  • Once that is done, you can top with the whipped heavy cream.
Passion Fruit Sangria
Ingredients:
  • Pineapple juice – 3 cups.
  • White grape juice – 1 cup.
  • Passion fruit juice – 1 cup.
  • Lime juice, freshly squeezed – ¼ cup.
  • Sweet white wine – 1 bottle.
  • Ginger ale – 12 ounces.
Preparation:
  • Take a large pitcher and add the pineapple juice, white grape juice, passion fruit juice, limejuice and white wine and mix. Allow this to get nice and cold.
  • Then add the ginger ale just prior to serving so that it doesn’t get flat.
  • Serve cold in a tall glass.
Passion Fruit Champagne Cocktail
Ingredients:
  • Passion fruit nectar, chilled – 1 cup.
  • Angostura bitters – ½ teaspoon.
  • Champagne, chilled – 1 cup.
  • Strawberries, fresh – 4.
  • Orange Slice, halved – 1.
Preparation:
  • In two champagne flutes, pour half the passion fruit nectar, bitters and champagne.
  • Place 2 strawberries, halved in each glass.
  • Garnish with half an orange slice.
