It has been reported that Barron Hilton, founder of the hotel chain, has decided to give 97 percent of his fortune to charity. The remaining 3 percent will go to his heirs. The bulk of his fortune, about $2.3 billion dollars is reportedly going to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The money will reportedly help with housing the homeless, finding safe water in countries that are underdeveloped, and other many other causes throughout the world. Barron Hilton said in a statement that his father had given 97 percent of his fortune to the foundation that he founded in 1944. Barron Hilton said "I am proud to follow in his footsteps."

The 3 percent that is set to go to his heirs reportedly totals near $69 million and is allegedly taxable. Hilton has eight children and many grandchildren that will have to share the inheritance. Paris Hilton is expected to receive $5 million…a lot less that the $100 million she was expected to receive. It has been rumored that Barron Hilton, 80, has been embarrassed by the behavior of his spotlight loving granddaughter, Paris, and that was partly behind his decision to bequeath most of his vast fortune to charity.

Hilton is reportedly embarrassed that granddaughter Paris became famous virtually overnight for appearing in a sex tape. Her partying and alcohol and drug use has widely been documented in the tabloids as well as her very active love life. The younger Hilton even spent time behind bars after being arrested on a DUI charge.
