According to Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Oscar Butao, Hilton was pulled over at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday night after she was observed speeding on Sunset Blvd. Without her headlights turned on. It was reported that Hilton gave the deputies a "hard time" and was asked to get out of her car. Said the source, "She did not look happy." Deputies then discovered that Hilton was driving on a suspended license and she was cited with a misdemeanor violation.

According to Hilton’s rep, Elliott Mintz, she was on her way home from the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood when she was pulled over. Mintz alleges that Hilton did not know she did not have her headlights on because she had just left a parking structure that was "brightly lit." Mintz said, "When she called me, she asked if her license was suspended. If that’s the case, she and I are unaware of it." Hilton was picked up by a friend while her 2007 Bentley Continental GTC convertible was towed and will be impounded for a month. Hilton is not allowed to drive until she regains her license and she will not be eligible to do that until the end of March.

Hilton’s troubles stem from an incident in September when she was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. Hilton’s license was suspended on November 30 after she pleaded guilty to a less charge of alcohol-related reckless driving. She was placed on 36 months probation on the condition that she "obey all laws." L.A. city attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan reportedly said, "She’s potentially in violation of probation; we are taking steps to verify this."
