Paraphrase of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "The Day Is Done"

The Original poem is by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and is called "The Day Is Done". This poem is written in my own words and may be more clear of what he is trying to say.
The day is over and the night falls like a feather onto the sky. I see the village lights shimmer through the rain and mist; and I am sad. I have often felt this pain of sadness and loneliness. Come, my love, and read to me a poem that will soothe my restless soul, and that will allow me to forget the troubles of today. Not from the poem that travel through the corridor of Time, like military music that tell me of life's chronic hardship--no, I wish to rest from that. Read from a kinder poet, whose lyrics take from everything in his heart; who after a long, laborious day, still found the beautiful melodies in his soul. Those words have the supremacy to calm worries and become peace like the feeling after prayer. Then read from the poet's most significant peace, and read it to me in a compassionate voice. And my last moments of this day shall be filled with music and my cares that held me down shall silently slip away.
