Paranoid Little World

A story of how abstract paranoia can lead to a life of fear filled solitude.
Did you burn away the tears of your own fears intrusion?
Did you reach into the shadows in search of a dream?
Did you inhale the misty fogs of life's little illusions?
Did they ever make allusions to your maddening screams?

You've been trying so hard to hide away from yourself,
Running through your nightmares with fear at your heels,
Trying to escape the confusion of an unpredictable world,
You make a disordered retreat from the emotions you feel.

No time then, to gather your thoughts and start again,
There's no one you can trust in to talk things over with,
The hound dogs are at your door, threatening to break in,
So you slink into the shadows of your own created myth.

That which has been yours has been anguish and sorrow,
The pain of fear has blackened your truth and your reality,
You've lived a life of lies that has left you feeling hollow,
Always searching for the one thing that could never be.

Your desultory thoughts that are filled with irregularity,
Breached the rules of etiquette, you became a social leper,
Shunned by the convention of what you thought was normality,
You drew further into yourself, trying to hide away forever.

The deepening madness that seeped through your veins,
Poisoned your blood cells and turned them against you,
They darkened your heart and invaded your brain,
Enfolding the black veil of insanity around you.

And you blamed everyone and anyone that you could,
By inventing a conspiracy that you lodged against yourself,
You brought about your own downfall by the things that you did,
Now your falling apart in your own paranoid little world.

I tried to help you, but you always shunned my advances,
You pushed me away from you as you sank deeper down,
Deep within the shadows, your black soul continues dancing,
As your whole world keeps sinking in a mind so profound.
