Paper Origami Box
Origami is the art of folding paper to make different objects. Making a paper origami box is a fun project for those rainy afternoons when you cannot go out.

Origami Box Instructions
Take a 6 inch square piece of origami paper and fold it in half. Fold the paper once again so that you have a small square piece of paper. Now open up the paper and you will see two creases on the paper that intersect each other. Place the origami paper on the worktable in such a way that its right side is facing downwards. Now bring the four corners of the paper to the center line and fold. The paper will resemble a square. Fold both the vertical edges of the paper in such a way that it meets the center line. Again fold the top edge and the bottom edge to meet the center line of the paper.
Now unfold the paper all over again. Fold the left and right side of the origami paper in such a way that the two corners of the paper meet at the center point. Fold the left side in such a way along the crease so that it stands up and repeat the same steps on the right side. Now tuck the flap along the crease to form the third side of the box and repeat on the opposite side. Your origami box is ready and you can serve some candies in it.
Origami Box with Lid
Make the origami box according to the instructions give above. For making the box lid, you will need a smaller piece of paper so that it fits over the box. Fold the piece of paper half lengthwise to get a reference point. Fold one side of the paper to the crease mark and carefully tear along its new fold. Repeat the same procedure on the opposite sides until you have a smaller piece of paper which is a perfect square. Now fold all the four corners of the paper towards the center. Place the origami box over this folded piece of paper so that you can make a lid that fits snugly. Fold two opposite sides of the paper against the box and crease gently to mark the folds.
Remove the box, and fold the sides inwards to flatten completely along these creases. Unfold again and repeat the same steps with the other two sides of the paper. Now fold the tip of each corner towards the center to meet the corners of the inner square along the creases. Unfold the two opposite flaps from the center and bring them together to make a through shape. Pull one pointed flap towards you while pushing the crease inside. Fold the flap against the inside lip of the lid. Tuck the tip of the flap inside the flap to secure it in place. Repeat these steps on all the three sides until you have the origami lid. Place the lid over the origami box.
There are many other variations of this basic origami box and you can have a lot of fun trying them out. Other paper origami boxes are the origami star box and origami pleated box.
