My research team recently gathered information from at least 250 actual Panasonic Viera TV owners. The sources for this data were several dozen online message boards, which tend to be excellent places to find unbiased and helpful product information.
Based on our findings, the most critical information you should know is that 93% of the Panasonic plasma TV owners included in our research were satisfied with their purchase.
Picture Quality
Owners were happy with the picture quality, including color accuracy and vibrancy, brightness, contrast and clarity. In addition, owners liked how dark and clearly the TV displayed black colors.
While nearly all owners liked the way the TVs displayed high definition (HD) sources, many were less than satisfied with how it displayed standard definition (SD). A significant number found it to be blurry and grainy.
Screen glare and reflection from light sources, such as windows, can be a problem with all TVs, plasmas included. It was, indeed, somewhat of a problem to Panasonic owners, according to our data. While not a widespread issue, several owners complained that light reflection was at least somewhat of a distraction from them enjoying their TV.
Image retention and burn-in can be problems for plasmas. In regard to image retention, which is what happens when an after-image appears on the screen temporarily, a handful of owners had complaints. In regard to burn-in, which is what happens when an after-image appears and remains on the screen permanently, very few, if any, Panasonic owners reported that their TV experienced this problem.
Motion blur was not a problem to speak of, nor was difficulty viewing the TV from a variety of horizontal and vertical angles.
Ease of Use, Sound and Appearance
Owners, by and large, found the TV to be simple to set up and use. Some would have appreciated a better designed remote control, however. In regard to the sound quality of the TV’s speakers, the clear majority of owners were pleased. When it comes to the appearance of the TV, that is, how nice it looks as a piece of furniture, owners nearly unanimously had only good things to say.

Problems, bugs and defects were reported by owners, such as issues with the power supply, buzzing noise and speakers. Complaints, however, were not common overall. Finally, the majority of owners who had contacted Panasonic’s customer service were generally satisfied with the support they received.
