Learn How to Read Palms
Ever wondered what all those lines on your palms meant? Here is a quick guide to learning how to read palms.

The study of palmistry includes deciphering the meaning of lines on the palms. Apart from these lines, there are various mounts on the hand, which stand for certain qualities. These are also important, as are the lines that are on or emerge from these mounts. Apart from the lines, the texture of the palm, the color, flexibility, shape and size of fingers and nails, etc., also tell a lot about the person's nature. Let us begin by a brief analysis of these elements.
Which hand to see?
This is the first question asked by people. Traditional palmistry suggests that the left hand of women and the right hand of men are to be seen. However, the scientific approach differs greatly in its ideas. The scientific approach says that it is important to see both the hands of a person. It states further, that the left hand is a doorway to the natural persona of the person, whereas the right hand shows what he has done with his personality and talents. Of course, this is opposite for the left-handed person. Now let us see how to read palms.
Texture
The texture of the hand is also a key to the persona of the person. This has to be observed for both, the back and front of the hand or palm. A soft textured hand shows sensitivity and refinement. A coarse textured hand will depict a coarse nature. Calluses will show that the person is either a hardworking person or has a job where he has to work with his hands a lot.
Flexibility
The flexibility of the hand shows the adjustable nature of the person. The more flexible the hand, the more adjusting his nature is. On the contrary, if the hand is stiff, the person has a rigid personality. People whose fingers can be very easily bent back (90 degrees to the palm) are pushovers.
Nails
This is also an important aspect to consider in palm reading. The shape of the nails also gives us an insight into the personality traits of the person. Long nails which taper at the tips show creativity; while square nails show orderliness.
Color
The color of the hands shows the nature of blood circulation in the person's body. A pinkish colored hand, therefore, shows a healthy individual. Yellow denotes excessive bile production. Blue color shows a circulation problem.

Take a look at the image to understand the mounts and lines on hand. Although mounts are not illustrated in this image, it should be noted that the respective mounts are found at the base of the fingers. For e.g., mount of Jupiter is at the base of finger of Jupiter. The mount of Venus is located at the base of the thumb, the mount of moon just beside it; whereas the mount of Mars is located below the mounts of Jupiter and Mercury. It is important to note the texture, color and firmness of these mounts, just as one would examine the hand in general. Here is some general information about these mounts.
- The mount at the base of the index finger is the Mount of Jupiter and it denotes ambition, leadership, religion, and love of nature.
- The mount at the base of the second finger is known as the Mount of Saturn, and it denotes soberness, wisdom, sadness, and balance.
- The mount at the base of the ring finger is known as the Mount of Apollo. It denotes brilliance, artistic tendencies, happiness and success.
- The mount at the base of the fourth finger is known as the Mount of Mercury, and it shows the person's aptitude for industry, business and shrewdness.
- At the base of the thumb is the Mount of Venus, which shows love, sympathy, music and passion.
- On the edge of the hand, below the base of the Mount of Mercury, is the Mount of Moon. This shows imagination, mysticism, coldness and selfishness.
- The rest of the hand, which is the middle part of the palm, forms the Plain of Mars, which shows courage, bravery and aggression.
And now we talk about the lines on the hand which are perhaps the most fascinating part of our study. But, how to read palms lines? Here is some general information about these lines and what they signify.
- Heart Line: The first prominent line, just below our fingers is the heart line. This line signifies the emotionality of the person, along with any problems relating to the heart. A longer line suggests that the person is dependent on the partner; whereas a shorter line is of the person who is self-assured. A straight line shows normal or intense relationships; while broken or forked line indicates trouble in relationships.
- Head Line: Just below the heart line is the head line. This line shows the mental or intellectual nature of the person, along with any mental problems he might suffer. A deep and straight line shows that the person is ambitious; while, an absent line suggests that the person is lazy. A forked head line indicates change in the career.
- Life Line: The third prominent line, which follows a downward curving path on our hand, is the life line. This shows us the nature and length of the person's life. A deep long line suggests a healthy and long life. However, this does not mean that a short line results in a short life. A broken line stands for losses and misery.
- Fate Line: This crosses the palm and begins near the end of the Life Line and ends somewhere near or on the Mount of Saturn. A deep line signifies inheritance, whereas a broken or forked line shows conflict and struggle. If the line is absent, the person lives a preplanned or an average life.
- Marriage Line: These lines are present on the Mount of Mercury and show relationships and marriage. The number of lines signify the number of major relationships in life. A forked marriage line suggests that the person may experience a divorce.
- The Line of Apollo: This begins from the upper part of the Mount of Moon and ends on the Mount of Apollo. This line determines the brilliance of the person in his / her sphere of life.
- The Line of Mercury or Health Line begins on the plain of Mars and ends on the Mount of Mercury. This line denotes the health of the person. A strong or bold health line indicates health issues in the life of the person; whereas absence of it indicates no major health issues in life.
It is believed that the lines change, grow and disappear as and when their relevance and importance has come and gone. This goes on to show that the 'future' and 'destiny' of a person can change and evolve. Lastly, it should be noted that palm reading and other occult sciences are meant only for information purposes, and are not always extremely accurate. Ciao!
