Painful Goobyes
Just a poem about two wolfs, one dying and the other dealing with it.
I stare at you in sombre
Tears streaming from my eyes.
I’ve always hated these parts
When it’s time for the goodbyes.
Little bits of snow
Falling from the summer sky
Why is it always you?
Who must wither away and die?
Listen to the birds.
Especially the crows
Your life has been ended
By a single finial blow.
Flying lines of silver
Heading straight for your heart
My teeth clenched so tight
It’s time for us to part.
Hear my final words
I love you so my dear
Float up towards the heavens
You have nothing left to fear.
I cry to the world
Howling long into the night
My screams loud and clear
I now live my life in fright.
My eyes fall on your body
My breath caught in my chest
This was not the hand of fate
But just some kind of test.
Please forgive me darling
For not being there as you died
There’s nothing I can now
Just run away and hide.
My body bound and broken
Lying down beside your own
I would much rather die with you
Then life my life alone.
So let our souls conjoin
And float towards the skies
Then there will be no need
For anymore goodbyes.
Tears streaming from my eyes.
I’ve always hated these parts
When it’s time for the goodbyes.
Little bits of snow
Falling from the summer sky
Why is it always you?
Who must wither away and die?
Listen to the birds.
