Pack For the Beach - The Anti Aging Way
Living in South Florida has it's perks, such as the close proximity to local beaches. However, it's got it's downside as well - the sun can add years to our look and weather our faces into wrinkled little prunes! Here is the smart way to pack for a beach trip, keeping that in mind.
The South Florida Sun is a HOT, HOT sun. Many tourists visit each year and leave with sunburn and farmer's tans as mementos. The sun can do some serious damage to the skin, and if you don't prepare yourself for it, you could be another victim.
When traveling to one of the many beaches South Florida boasts, be sure to pack properly. Here is a checklist for all of you who are concerned with your skin and how it will appear years later.
When packing, keep in mind you need to stay hydrated. Staying hydrated is a great way to not only keep yourself feeling fresh, but to help aid your skin. When your skin is hydrated, it reacts better to all of the topical lotions applied to it. Remember to bring plenty of water, first and foremost. A cooler full of beer is great, but if you don't hydrated at the same time, you could dehydrate, which is the worst possible thing you could do in the hot sun. Bring soda's, mineral waters, water, kool-aid, fruit juices, pretty much anything other than straight booze and you should be fine.
If you are packing for a group, there are several "must have" things. Here is a shortlist, along with a brief explanation of each and why the item is important.
-SPF lotion. This is the most important thing you could have on your journey. If you do not protect your skin from the sun, you run the risk of immediate and long term effects on your skin. First, you can have a sunburn. Not fun by any means, a sunburn can damage the skin and leave long term scarring. Second, wrinkles are formed from sun damage. If you block out the sun accordingly, wrinkles will be kept at bay and the long term effects will not be nearly as bad as the people who refuse to use sunblock.
-A blanket. This you need so you can spread out with the gang. The sand is hot, and you don't want to be on the sand for too long without anything between your feet and the sand. If you obtain a large picnic-style blanket, this provides a comfortable space for you and your group. It's much better than using individual towels.
-Aloe vera. You never know when you want to feel fresh and cool. Aloe vera does just that when applied to the skin.
-Sun protection. You need to bring a hat and some sunglasses along with your spf lotion. These are great secondary items that people take for granted when considering the sun and how important it is to block it out. Using sun protection like a hat will block out sun from getting into your scalp and giving you that burn. Men with short hair know all about this.
Mainly, stay hydrated and make your beach trip comfortable. If you do this, you will be on your way to having an enjoyable time at your favorite beach, without any long term damage to your skin.
