Owen Wilson Pal Denies Responsibility

Coogan’s ex Courtney Love has come forward to lay the blame on him after Wilson attempted suicide last week and reports of his alleged drug abuse have been running rampant. Love reportedly told US Weekly, "I went through it with Steve…I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs…I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." She also said that she tried to warn Wilson and his friend that Coogan was bad news. Coogan, a British actor, denied all the rumors and told Access Hollywood, "I do want to set the record straight and say that the allegations…are completely and utterly false"

A source reportedly said, "Coogan was in Hawaii when the news [of Wilson’s suicide try] hit, but he came back Wednesday night and is trying to get in touch with Owen, Luke [Wilson], and Ben [Stiller]. He’s trying to make sure that the movie [Tropic Thunder] doesn’t fall through now." Coogan and Wilson were set to appear in small roles in the film. Wilson has pulled out of the film while he focuses on his recovery.

Coogan, the Wilson brothers, and Stiller reportedly hang out on a regular basis. A source said of Coogan, "He used his relationships and his contacts with seedy people to get bit parts in movies and to get famous." Coogan has also slammed Love saying that after they split she stalked him, a report that Love’s friends have slammed. A friend of Love’s said, "His saying Courtney ever stalked him is the biggest lie ever! He has done nothing but go out of his way to hurt he. He’s obsessed with her." Love and Coogan have not been in contact for months, but she reportedly sent him an email upon hearing of Wilson’s suicide attempt that read, "You must feel great right now. Does this feel life-affirming?" Love has said her peace and claims that she will not comment on the matter further.
