Owen Wilson Drops Out of Movie

Wilson and Stiller reportedly decided it was for the best that he back out of his role in Tropic Thunder while he tries to get his life under control. Wilson reportedly attempted to commit suicide Sunday following a bout with depression and an alleged cocaine and heroin addiction. A Wilson rep has denied that the actor has ever used cocaine or heroin, but sources close to the actor have said that he has struggled with his addictions to both drugs. He reportedly delved deeper into depression following his split from actress Kate Hudson in June.

Supposedly, Hudson called it quits on her relationship with Wilson because of his addictions. Courtney Love has come forward and says that she blames British actor Steve Coogan for Wilson’s drug addictions. Love, who dated Coogan, said, "I went through it with Steve. I was just out of rehab, and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends…I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." A friend close to Wilson said that drugs played a factor in his split from Hudson, who reportedly "forbid him from letting Coogan into his house. She knew he was bad." A source close to Hudson said, "The drugs and partying were a huge factor in the break-up. As much as she liked him, she didn’t want to be around that."

Hudson is now dating Punk’d star Dax Shepard and a source said that might have been the catalyst to send Wilson "over the edge." The source said, "Seeing her happy with someone else made him happy that she’d found that, but made him hate himself so much more that he could never do it." Right now, Wilson’s family has been focusing on him getting better. A family friend reportedly said, "We always thought he was just too fun-loving, but now it’s obvious he was just dealing with way to much to handle."
