How to Make Origami Heart with Wings
The paper folding techniques grouped under this kids' craft help in creating amazing designs and shapes. The instructions for making different shapes and patterns prepared using the art of origami are easy to understand. Most of the designs can be created using square-shaped papers. One can make different shapes just by following simple folding instructions. The origami heart is one such folding pattern.
Instructions
Here is a step-by-step procedure to make an origami heart with wings.
- To make an origami heart pattern with wings, one would require a square-shaped paper. The paper should be folded in half to form a rectangle.
- The rectangular shaped paper should again be folded in half to form a smaller square. The paper should be unfolded at all the creases. One should start the next step by placing the paper with colored side facing downwards. In this position, one can see vertical and horizontal creases dividing the paper in four sections/quarters.
- Bottom half of this square need to be folded in such a manner that the border is aligned with the central crease which divides the paper horizontally. The same step should be carried out for upper section.
- After making these folds, the paper should be flipped over. Right bottom corner of the paper should be folded in a manner that it aligns with the top borderline at the center. A similar step should be performed for the left corner. One can see small triangular 'wings' near the left and right corners of the paper.
- The paper should again be flipped over. A structure with rectangular shape at the top and triangular shape pointing downwards can be seen.
- The rectangular shape need to be folded down along its horizontal axis. It is important to note that the rectangular shaped paper has two layers. Only the upper layer has to be folded downwards. The layer below it is used for making smaller folds that are explained below.
- The layer below the first/upper one should be used to make squash folds on the left as well as right sides. By making squash folds on both sides, we get a fold pattern with the shape of a 'bow-tie'.
- At this stage, appearance of the whole paper structure can be described as follows: a rectangular strip at the top with the 'bow-tie' shape in the center and a triangular shape pointing downwards. Right above the 'bow-tie' shaped structure, there are two small squares.
- Corners of these small, triangular-shaped paper pieces should be folded downwards slightly. Left and right corners of the rectangular strips should also be folded slightly to give them a slanting shape.
