Instructions to Make a Lily
- Take a square piece of origami paper and fold it in the origami water balloon base. Make a squash fold and repeat the same procedure for the rest of the three corners. This will actually give a kite shape to your paper.
- Now take the lower edge of the paper into its centerline and unfold it as soon as possible, now fold the top corner in the downward direction and open it. Make sure that the folding marks over the paper are visible enough.
- This was the petal fold that you must repeat with the rest of the edges of the balloon base. This will create a smaller kite over the previous one. Fold a point of the kite in the downward direction and repeat the procedure for the rest of the three points to get a diamond shape.
- Now fold the top edges of the formed diamond onto the previously created centerline repeating the procedure for three more times. After you finish, turn the piece of paper in the upside down direction.
- Hold the base of the formed petals in the fingers of the left hand and then run a pen/pencil along with your right thumb, along the length of the petal. To do this, place your thumb in front of the petal and the pen at the back of it. Repeat the procedure until you give a curly structure to the lily petals.
Instructions to Make a Lotus
- Take a 6 inch square piece of one sided origami paper. Hold the colored side up and fold the paper diagonally at the middle. Unfold the diagonal and again make a fold for another diagonal. Repeat the procedure of folds and unfolds for the horizontal and vertical lines, mid-lines.
- Now fold a corner of the paper in the middle, repeat the procedure for the remaining three edges. It will be a small square of the original one, now again fold the corners of this small square at the middle, just by the previously done method. It will create smaller squares. Repeat the procedure of folding corners.
- Now turn this smaller square over and repeat the corner folding procedure from the backside as well. Reach at the backside of the corner and pull that flap from around to the front. Open the adjacent flaps to avoid tearing of the paper. Repeat the procedure for the rest of the corners as well. You have created a pretty origami lotus.
