Easy Origami Box Instructions for Kids

The key to make a good origami box is to have as much as flat folds, at the right spot of the origami paper. Remember that the size of your origami box entirely depends on the size of the origami paper you choose. We are learning to make a square size origami box, which requires one square size piece of an origami paper. To make solid folds, place the paper on a strong base, like a tabletop and then follow these instructions.

At first, place the paper on the table in such a way that the colored side of it is in downward direction. Now, fold the paper in the middle, on both horizontal as well as vertical sides. These basic folds are called 'mountain folds'. These folds will serve as your guideline to follow the instructions. Now, fold all four corners of your paper towards the direction of center point of the mountain folds.

Once you are done with this, fold the right border of the paper towards the center. Repeat the same with the left border and top as well as the bottom border of the paper. After making all the folds flat and secure, unfold the top, bottom, right as well as the left borders of the paper. Now, you will see that there are two new diagonal folds formed on the paper. This step ensures that you have two diagonal lines on the vertical ends of your origami paper.

Now, move the corners of your paper in such a way, that the top corner comes in place of the left corner and right corner comes in place of the top corner. Once you are done with that, fold the 'new' right and left corners towards the center of the paper. These folds should give the paper a benzene (hexagonal) like structure.

Now, all you have to do is, to fold the paper on the same previously made folds. Make sure to fold all the corners in the inward direction. If you find white side of the paper getting exposed, then, you need to repeat all the instructions from the beginning. This completes your origami box. You can use this origami box to keep several delicate things like candies, paper pins and other origami art and craft objects.

Origami box instructions can be tried in their spare time for some fun. Origami instructions for kids is actually a great way to keep them busy.
