Department store boxes are a very simple form of origami in which the cardboard is folded in and tucked inside the corners of the box. This folding is a very simple origami technique which we will employ in our box making origami directions. Box size mainly depends upon the size of the paper used and the purpose of making it. So without delaying, let us have a look at step by step instructions on origami box.
- Start by flipping the paper so that the colored side is facing down, fold the paper in half horizontally and then vertically to form creases on it.
- Fold the four corners of the paper toward the center point and then again fold the top and bottom of this square toward the center and unfold to form the creases.
- Unfold the top and bottom triangular flaps and fold the sides of the paper in to the center, crease well.
- Now fold the top corner of the model down and then unfold it again.
- Fold the down model in other direction and you will be able to see two new formed diagonal creases.
- Repeat the above two steps on the other side as well, and you will have two new creases at both ends.
- Now at one end of the paper, open up or unfold the box model along the creases just formed. This step will lift the top portion of the model vertically.
- Fold the top of model over in to the box and repeat the last two steps for the other end of the model as well, to finish the origami box.
