Nutritional Value of Orange Juice

It is clear from the tables above that orange juice sure makes a part of a healthy diet. These citrus fruits are known for their beneficial properties.

Vitamin C: As mentioned earlier, orange juice is very high in vitamin C, which plays an important role in boosting the immune system of our body. Vitamin C, being high in antioxidants, helps to build and repair the body cells and also prevents any damage. It helps our body to fight infections and diseases. Moreover, some studies say that vitamin C has anticancer properties, and it neutralizes free radicals in the body. It also helps to absorb non-heme iron and prevents deficiency of iron in the body. Thus, vitamin C is necessary for the overall good health, and hence, we should consume sufficient amount of it by drinking orange juice.

Minerals: Orange juice contains high levels of minerals such as magnesium and potassium. These minerals help to lower the increased blood pressure level, and hence, high blood pressure patients are recommended to drink this juice. Consuming orange juice also helps to reduce the risk of fatal diseases like stroke and other heart diseases. Pregnant ladies are recommended to drink it for a healthy growth of the baby―develops strong bones and teeth in the baby due to the high levels of calcium present.

Drinking orange juice helps to treat arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory properties. These also reduce the risk of developing heart problems. It also increases your metabolic rate and increases the body's resistance to fight diseases.

Note that you should never overdo anything, and the same is applicable with the consumption of orange juice. It is high in sugars, and hence, you should consume it in moderation. It is recommended that you should drink only one or two glasses of orange juice on a daily basis. Moreover, as it is high in acidic content, it can pose more problems if you are having an upset stomach.
