Ophiuchus

The constellation located around the celestial equator is said to be that of the Ophiuchus. It is a Greek word for the term 'serpent-bearer' and is said to represent a man carrying a snake. It is also known as Serpentarius (Serpent Holder). Ophiuchus, was known since the ancient time, being one of the 48 constellations named by Ptolemy, the 2nd Century astronomer. It is also one of the 88 modern constellations and appears between Scorpio and Sagittarius. It has lately become popular as the 13th sign of the Zodiac although the mainstream sidereal astrology such as the Hindu and Tropical astrology practitioners still firmly believe that there are only 12 Zodiac signs.
