Jake came down and saw Hallie that weekend, just as he'd promised. The second he knocked on Hallie's front door, she fell into his arms.

'I have missed you SO MUCH!' Hallie said, so glad he was there with her.

'I've missed you to honey. I've been thinking of you everyday.'

'Ditto.' Hallie smiled, relishing his warmth and familiar smell. 'Come in. You must be cold.' She said, although he didn't feel at all cold.

Hallie's mum appeared from the living room with a smile on her healthy face. 'Well,' she breathed. 'This must be the famous Jake. I have heard so much about you.' She said, shaking his hand. Jake smiled, keeping one arm firmly around Hallie. She kept her arms around his waist, so glad they were reunited.

'Hi. And you must be Miss. Hanson. Glad to finally meet you.' He said, smiling politely. Hallie was so glad 'Mrs. James' hadn't slipped. Ann hated it when people forgot she was divorced. Jake was making a good first impression.

They all sat down and had dinner. Jake and Ann got to know more about each other, while Hallie just listened, catching sneaky glances at Jake. She was so happy he was there.

Afterwords Ann went up to bed and Hallie and Jake washed up, soaking each other with bubbles. Hallie sent Jake off to the living room to dry off and get changed, while she did the same in her room. She brought down her bed covers and pillows, and found Jake already asleep on the sofa. She smiled to herself and watched him silently for a few moments, before throwing her duvet over him, kissing him on the nose and going up to her bed.

Her bed felt bare and cold without the bedding, but she knew she'd manage. She nodded off after a while, thinking about Jake.

When Jake woke up in a dark drenched room, feeling lonely and confused. It took him a moment to realize he must have passed out on Hallie's sofa, and soon noticed her duvet over him. What was she sleeping with?

Bringing the bedding with him, he walked quietly up the stairs and made his way slowly into Hallie's room. And what he saw made his heart melt.

Hallie was curled up on her bed, using her jumper as a pillow and an old dressing gown as her blanket. She looked cold, but gorgeous as she slept. She must be so uncomfortable! Evidently to Jake, she had given up her bedding for him. How freaking cute.

Jake slipped the pillows under her head and put the cover over her trembling body. He pulled off the hood and pulled it over her head, slipping it over her limp limbs.

Jake curled up against Hallie as she slept, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her neck.

'Mm?' Hallie murmured, half awake.

'Shh, it's alright Hals. It's just me. Go back to sleep.'

'Mm, okay.' She replied, and she slept.

When Hallie woke up in the morning with a warmth she hadn't fallen asleep to, she was confused. Faint, fuzzy memories of her waking up in the night lingered in her mind, but she couldn't remember much.

She turned over to reveal Jake fast asleep beside her. She smiled and felt his huge hood on her body. Snuggling back up against his chest, she fell back to sleep.

'Hallie... Cummon, Hals. Wakey wakey.'

Jake's voice was pulling Hallie back to life, but she wanted to stay asleep.

'Mmm,' she moaned, keeping her eyes closed.

'Hallieeeeeeeeee' Jake whispered, kissing her delicately. 'Cummon. I have to go home this evening. I at least want to spend the day together awake.'

'Jake?' She asked, opening one eye.

'Yes, it's me Hals.'

'When did you get here?'

'Last night. I woke up with all your bedding over me, and gave it back to you. You were freezing. What you did was so sweet Hals. Thanks.'

'No problem.' Hallie smiled, kissing his neck. 'I'm glad I woke up next to you.'

'So am I.'

The weekend past, and Jake went back home. Hallie spent the week filling out forms and taking phone calls to try to get her back into the university. She explained her position, and eventually, they let her back in.

A week before she left, in late May, she went back to visit her dad. She spent time with Lara, Lee, Jane and Jake, and said her last goodbye's before going to university.

'Bye, gorgeous.' Jake said after giving her a goodbye kiss and hug. 'Good luck. You'll do well.'

'Thanks. See you in the summer.' She smiled, getting into her car.

'Or sooner, possibly.' Jake shouted, before she drove away.

Sooner? What did her mean by that?

Three weeks later, Hallie was sat under an oak tree, studying. It was a warm day in June and Hallie was just about settled into Uni. She hadn't made many friends yet, except for her roommate and her roommate's boyfriend. But she had plenty of time to do that.

As she was sat there, she started doodling. She drew the beach her and Jake used to go on so much, and she felt tears fill her eyes as she remembered.

'What ya drawing?' She heard a voice say, and she turned around to see where it was coming from.

Jake?

'Jake...?' Hallie whispered.

'Hey, Hals.' He smiled, as if the situation was the most natural ever. He sat down in front of her.

'Is it really you?' Hallie asked, stroking his face. He caught her fingers and kissed them softly.

'Yes, it's me.'

'But how? When-'

'I got in to this university last Christmas. I was offered a place. I took it, knowing I'd come in the summer. I didn't tell you because I didn't know how you'd react. I didn't know you'd be here too.'

'You got in?!'

'Yeah. Hals, we're both at the same university. Do you get it?'

'Oh, Jake...' she whispered, and fell into his arms, trying not to cry. 'This is the best thing ever.'

Jake and Hallie went the cafeteria. Jake spent his time getting to know Joy, Hallie's roommate, and Simon, Joy's boyfriend and his roommate. He noticed how quiet Hallie was being; she looked exhausted.

'Aren't you gonna eat that, Hals?' Jake asked her, looking at her plate of practically untouched chips.

'She never eats when she's tired.' Joy explained.

'I know.' Jake said with a smile, and squeezed her hand. 'Cummon, Hals. Let's go up to our rooms.'

Too tired to complain, Hallie followed Jake. Simon and Joy followed on soon after.

'So, are you guys roomed opposite us?' Hallie asked sleepily.

Simon and Jake nodded.

Joy grinned.

'Perfect.'

Jake spent his evening unpacking, and Hallie spent her evening studying at her desk. Simon and Joy both went out.

When Jake was finished, he went into Hallie's room, and found her fast asleep at her desk, her head leaning on a book she was clearly meant to be studying from. He grinned to himself and closed the door quietly behind him.

'Hals...' He whispered, stroking the back of her neck, and playing with her hair.

'Mmm.' She murmured, not opening her eyes.

'Wake up, Hals. Come on, get into your nice warm bed.'

'Can't be bothered,' came her muffled response, and Jake grinned.

In one swift moment, Jake had Hallie in his arms, and tucked her into her bed. She snuggled down against the warmth of her bed.

'Night, Hals.' Jake whispered, kissing her.

'Night, Jake. I love you.'

'I love you too. And only you.'
