Online Roulette - Which Variant should You Play?

There is a huge choice of roulette games online - not only through different casinos, but also thanks to slight variations in the game itself. We discuss the different variants and hope to help you decide the right roulette game for you.
Roulette is roulette, right? How difficult can it be? Well, given that this is one of the more popular games on the Internet, you will have a big choice of casinos to choose from and more than likely a big choice of online roulette variants in each casino to choose from. So what´s the best roulette for you? Well, that´s what we are about to discuss.

You have 2 overall choices: virtual roulette and live roulette. Virtual roulette is a computer simulation (a video game if you like) that mimics the behaviour of a real life wheel exactly. Play virtual roulette if you like to play fast, and you like higher tanble limits. Live roulette is played on a real wheel in a studio (you watch the action on a webcam and make bets online). Play live roulette if you prefer the more social aspect of playing with other people and you believe in wheel bias.

Once you have chosen your type of online roulette, it is time to pick a variant. There are variants called American Roulette, European Roulette and French Roulette. There are games with progressive sidebets, and there are games that have up to 3 wheel spinning at the same time.

Without going into too much detail, we would recommend the following:
If you are a novice player, pick European Roulette (the basic version). This has one zero pocket versus 2 on American Roulette (never play American Roulette unless you like betting on 2 zero pockets- the odds are inferior).

If you are comfortable with all of the different bet types, play French roulette. This is like European Roulette, but with a special rule called ´La Partage´ on the even money bets (red/black). The casino will return half of your bet on an even money bet if the ball lands in the zero pocket. The odds are better still.

As a general rule, we would avoid any other roulette type that appears "fancy". By that we mean that the game has a progressive side bet, or there is an extra "free spins" well, or there are multiple wheels. All of these extras are basically gimmicks that will either reduce your odds or will accelerate your spend.

And last but not least, before you play, make sure that you have decided on your exit strategy and stick to it. So have a profit target (walk away when you hit it) and a stop loss limit (quit the table if you reach it). Good luck!
