One True Love Part 2
A sick boy with a hope for a new heart...falling in love too. When everything looks to be turning out for the best....it can change...
"Thanks." LJ said to me.
"No problem." I said to him.
We were walking back to the locker room with the rest of the class. "You know, you didn't have to do that." LJ said to me. "When Mr. Long finds out, he will make you run the mile under 5 minutes for probably a week!"
"Well then, let's hope he doesn't find out." I said to him. I lifted my head to look at him, and he has the most stunning eyes ever, plus his smile. It was like an electric shock.
I went into the girls' locker room and grabbed my stuff out of my locker. There was a beautiful blonde, who locker was right next to mine.
"Hi, my name is Vicky." She said with a handshake.
I looked at her, she was pretty. "Hi." I said taking her handshake.
"So how do you like it here so far?" She said.
"I don' know." I said.
"Well hey, don't worry about that jerk Jim, he does that to everyone." She said. "But you know, if you need anything or whatever, you could just ask me." "Thanks." I said. "That is very kind of you."
"Really, that's a first." She said with a smile.
BEEP!
"Come on, I'll show you to your next class." Vicky said.
We walked out of the locker room. I saw LJ standing out in the hall, but when he saw me come out he left. This guy is weird.
One Week Past
She walked out of the locker room with my ex-girlfriend. Damn, Helen will almost certainly hate me now. Vicky probably will tell her everything about me. I hate that girl.
I went to Sociology, and then I heard "Will Larry Jinx please report to the main office." Great, I thought Mr. Long was going to kill me. But when I got there, it was something else.
"Mom, what is it?" I asked.
"The doctors called for us to go in." She said in a whisper, she knew that I didn't like people t o know about my conditions, even though the whole school knows.
I nodded and grabbed my excuse slip from Linda, she was used to this.
There was silent between my mom and me. We both don't know what they were going to say, we don't know if it's going to be bad or good.
"Larry Jinx." The nurse said while we were sitting in the waiting room. I got up after my mom. The nurse led us to a room.
"Then doctor will with you shortly." She said.
My mom waited nervously, as for me, I have prepared myself for some time now. In my conditions, I could either live or die. There was only two ways to look at this. I didn't know if there was any other way.
"Hi LJ. Hi Mrs. Jinx." He said when we walked in.
"Hi doctor, so is this good news?" my mom asked.
"Yes, LJ we have found you an organ donor." He said. That made my mom jump. Tears started to fall from her face. I gave her hug.
"Mom, I'm going to be alright." I said to her.
"I know...I know..." She was trying not to cry. Whenever we came to these appointments, she cried most of the time.
"LJ next Monday is your day, so I'm going to ask you to come on Sunday. We have to watch you, because you can't eat for 24 hours prior to your surgery." He said.
"We will be here." My mom said.
"Alright, thank you for coming in." Doc said. He walked out.
"Oh son! You're going to okay." She said with a smile. "It just in four days."
We went home as my little brother and sister waited at home for the news.
"LJ!" David, my youngest brother about the age of nine, came up to me running.
No one would ever ask what the news were, because they were afraid. "Okay, everyone, I have good news, I'm going to be okay, they found me a donor."
My sister Olivia, 15 years old, cried with my mother. "Did you guys hear me? I said I'm going to be okay."
I didn't see LJ for a week, I guess he must be avoiding me. But Vicky has been a great help to me. I sat with her and her friends at lunch. They are so nice to me. But Vicky and her friends, all they talked about was boys, clothes, and other girls. Do I have to be like them? If I don't maybe they won't like me. So I just listen to their conversations, then when they would ask me what I thought about it, I told them what they wanted to hear.
But I can't go on like this forever.
"LJ." I said. He didn't see me because I was walking behind him.
"Hey Helen." He said.
"I don't see you often anymore." I said.
"Yeah, I've been really busy." He said.
"LJ, you have a girlfriend?" One of his friends said.
"Mike, shut your mouth." He said turning to his friend. "Helen, it's not like I'm avoiding you."
"Well that's good to know." I said.
"Hey you know what, do you want to hang out after school or something?" He asked me.
"Umm..." I didn't expect him to say that. "Okay."
"Alright, I'll see you after school." He said.
With that I left to next hour.
You barely know this guy. Don't you dare fall for him! But he's so cute!
All I could think about was LJ for the rest of the day. He's just so laid back and cool. I think I could do that. I never really thought that I would like it here, but now I have friends.
"Helen?" Mrs. Ginger said. "Would you read the next paragraph?"
That woke me up from my day dreaming. Only one more hour till the end of the day.
Right after school I went to the school parking lot to get my car and I waited for Helen. When I pulled up the front, when she spotted me, I saw her bright smile. Wow, she's so beautiful. I got out to open the door for her.
"Thank you." She said as I closed the door.
"So where would you like to go?" I asked her.
"You know, since I've been here, I haven't really seen the city." She said.
"Alright, so would you like a tour of the city?" I asked her.
"That would be really nice of you." She responded. I took her around town. I showed her just about where everything that she need to know and where everything was. I took her anywhere she wanted to go. Until we got lost.
"I never been to this part of town before." I said.
Helen just laughed. "So we're lost?" She said.
LJ thought he got us lost, but I knew exactly where we were. We were right in front of my house.
"Don't worry, I'll get us out of here." He said.
I just laughed at him.
"What's so funny?" He asked with a concerned look. "You aren't scared are you?"
"No, if I were scared, I surely wouldn't be laughing." I told him. "This is my house."
"Oh," He said. "So I'm just lost."
"Don't worry, I was lost with you for a moment too." I said. "You could pull in the drive way."
"You know, girls don't usually take me to their parent on our first date." He said with fear.
"Don't worry, it would be worse for me than you, besides my parents aren't even home." I told him. "They are workaholics."
We both got out of his car entering my house. "Yeah, there isn't much in our home yet." I said. "My parents are so busy that no one cares to put pictures up or anything."
"Your home is very beautiful." He said.
"Thanks." I said. "If we had food, I'd offer you some, but we have soda." I handed him a Pepsi.
"Thanks." He responded. "So when are your parents going to be home?"
"Well, my mom should be home very soon." I told him. "But my dad doesn't come home till later at night."
"I guess I should leave then." He said.
"Only if you don't want to run into my mother." I said. We walked back to the door. "I had fun on your first date."
"So did I." He said opening his door. "Maybe we can do this again."
"Yeah." He got into his car and left as I waved good-bye.
That was a close one.
NOW: FRIDAY-3 more days till surgery.
I want to hang out with Helen so I can get to know her better. Maybe I should ask her if she wants to hang out. No, what if she's busy?
I'll give her a call
Ring, ring, ring...hello?
"Hello?" Someone answered.
"Hi, is Helen there?" I asked.
"She's busy." I could hear girls giggling in the background.
"Okay, could you tell her that LJ called?" I asked.
"Sure." She said.
I knew who it was, it was Vicky. Vicky and her friends were at Helen's house, but why?
