~~~One Single Flower~~~
A Girl Lost In A World With No Doors To Escape…
Her hair was a mess when she answered the door. It was all tangled and lopsided. She was only partly awake. Police scattered and talked to her but she thought she was imagining it. Blurs of people she only half knew, not really recognized. Giving one worded answers and feeling scared and empty. She remembered how it felt not knowing where your place was in the world, feeling like someone lost you. Like you were their property, and they missed you because you belonged to them.
Later she knew why it was blurry; she had tears in her eyes. And the answers were a result of being frozen in time. Not believing what was going on, not wanting to know what was happening because it was unbearable. Like a lonely flower, the only one you can see through a multitude of flowers. It only has one petal, it has lost all the rest.
Every time she looks out her bedroom window all she sees are flowers. Somehow she can’t see past them, the streams, the houses that all look the same, the forest and the children. All she sees are the flowers. Blowing in the wind, the wind that is just a little bit more happy then it should be.
Almost like it had no heart, oblivious to her pain.
Frozen ice on top, all the warmth trapped underneath. It wont come back. Once the winter comes it won’t go away, never letting up the disguise. Protecting something that was no longer there, but believing something different and wont let anything change its mind.
She was stuck in one spot. Not wanting to move on, but not wanting to remember the past. Bound by the truth and stabbed by the lies. Reaching for something that was long gone. Never giving up on her hope, but losing grip more as she tied the knot.
Resenting the gut feeling of something looming in the darkness of her mind. A unknown mist that hangs over her thoughts.
