One Last Kiss Chapter 15

Escaping the wedding.
The day was warm and the sky was clear blue. Amar was wondering around on the streets of Islamabad. The capital of Pakistan. He still couldn't believe that he has been forced to move in here. He looked around on the people who surrounded him. Everybody looked the same. The same wearing. The same skin color. Everyone around spoke the same language although he preferred English. Since he moved in here he was pretending that he doesn't understand his mother language. The language who he hated by all his heart. The language what have never been and never will be his first. He noticed that most of people were wearing the kameez. The traditional dress to hide all the human nudity. It wasn't his home. It wasn't the place he intended to stay.

As later he entered the house, he saw his cousins sitting inside. His mind wandered about the wedding. Its been already three weeks since he left England. He missed his country. His uncle and aunt he was living with were busy selecting the perfect wife for him. He was always wondering what kind of girl will they finally pick for him. He wasn't happy for being forced to do something he doesn't want to.

Everyone in his family was getting ready for the wedding. This showed him that the time is getting closer. His grandmother and other family members he barely knew was busy cooking . He could smell the curry coming from the kitchen.

"You'll see. The Pakistan is a land of rich tradition. I cant wait until the day my grandson will get married" She said in Urdu. She couldn't speak English at all. Amar was pretending he doesn't understand.

On the next day when Amar woke up he saw that the flowers were all over the house.

"Your wedding ceremony will take place this evening" One of his cousin said after he saw Amar coming out the room. Amar's heard broke up into thousands pieces. He couldn't believe the day has come. It was too soon. All he wanted to do now was to curl up in bed. From the early morning the house began to fill by family and friends. Most of this people Amar met for the first time. Sitting inside his room he could hear the laughs and conversation coming from downstairs.

His parents flew all the way from England for the ceremony. They felt so proud from Amar. He was terrified that his worst dream was coming true. He thought that being forced to marry someone he doesn't even know and is related to was disgusting. Most of the family members have visited him that day with a presents and greetings. His parents made him come downstairs and introduce himself to them. He spoke no Urdu. It made them nearly furious.

"Hey son its time for you to wear those special clothes for your ceremony" His dad said and gave him a box. Amar opened the box and saw some Pakistani creation. He didn't understand.

"Whats this?" He asked

"This is Shalwar kameez and matching pagri. A traditional wedding creation dress for men. Please wear this" He said. Without any argument Amar wore the dress and came out the room. Everybody were staring at him. He didn't feel good. It was an unusual dress. He missed his home England where no one is wearing pyjamas. He thought about his mates from school. They would probably make a serious laugh from him seeing him in this dress.

"That is so splendid" His mother said.

"Can he speak Urdu?" One of his family members asked.

"We've been trying to teach him. He was attending a mosque lessons but somehow he don't understand a single word." His mother said

Amar could understand Urdu well although he was too ashamed to speak in this language. English is his first language and always will be.

Later that day the priest arrived. His parents have told him to sit next to him waiting for the bride.

"Oh its like a Romeo and Julietta story" His mother was so excited

After 10 minutes the bride arrived. When she enters the room. Amar saw a young girl in a gold wedding dress. She have hidden her face so the husband wouldn't see her. When the priest asked her to she showed her face. Amar looked at her. They have never seen each other before. She was the most beautiful Asian girl he have ever seen. She gave him a smile. Something inside Amar mind snapped. He couldn't marry her. He doesn't even know her.

"I'm sorry mum. I'm sorry day. I cant do it" He said and runned out the house.

"Stop him!" His father shouted. Amar's cousins were trying to catch him. But they have lost him. Amar disappeared .

The Bride sat next to the priest and started to cry.

"Don't worry my child" He said touching her head.

Amar knew it will happen. He knew that he wasn't destined to marry the woman he doesn't even know. He was still thinking about Julia. He loved her. The only thing he had to do was to go back to England and fixed everything.
...
Julia was stressing out before her wedding. She had two weeks before they will fly to Miami to get married.

"Is everything ok? You look tense" Adrian asked me

"I don't know. I want to go away for one day. Just to clear my head" I said.

"Listen it's ok to feel nervous before the wedding" He smiled" But ok. Take your time to do whatever you want. Where do you want to go?" He asked

"Bradford" I grasped.

"Bradford? Why do you want to go to Bradford?" He asked.

"I have to take care of few things. I love you. Don't worry about me. I'll be back tomorrow evening ok?"

"Ok. I love you too" He said and kissed me.

Julia packed my luggage and went on the bus stop. Heading toward the Bradford she had a weird feeling. She was trying to taste the last freedom before marriage. She didn't needed any company or friends. When she came to the hotel she threw her bag on the bed and went outside. She walked alone and visited all the familiar places . She stopped in a blue belly park when she and Amar had spended so much time in before. It was the time when she recalled all the memories. It was hard to forget someone who had such a big impact on her life. She climbed on the fence when she've heard someone speaking

"Julia?" It was Amar`s voice. Her eyes went with tears. She did her best to wipe out the shock from her face.

"Amar?" She said with a surprise.

They both said nothing for a while, just standing in a front of each other staring.

"What are you doing here?" He asked curiously.

"I should ask you the same question." She said

"I was just passing by" He said

Her toes curled

"Do you want to come over for a tea to mine and talk?" He asked

"I'd love to" She smiled and followed him.

He showed her where he lives. She was amazed how much he had changed. She have told him about what has changed in her life since he saw her last time.

"So do you love him?" He asked when she was telling him about Adrian.

"Yes. I love him. He's a wonderful man" She said.

"So you are getting married then and we can be friends. Right?" He asked.

"Yes." She said although she wasn't entirely happy with this choice.

"You changed " She said

"What do you mean?" He asked and smiled.

"You're more mature and free" She complemented him.

"Thanks. You changed too. In a good way" He smiled.

"So where's your wife?" She asked.

"What wife?" He asked" Ahhh. I haven't told you this yet. Did I. I escaped from the wedding." He said

"You did? Why? " She asked.

"I didn't wanted to be forced to do something I don't want to." He said

"Good."

"And besides I've been too much in love with you" He added. She freezed for a moment not knowing what to say.

"Gosh I'm so stupid. I shouldn't being coming here. I'm getting married soon" She said and stood up.

"No. Don't leave. Please." He started begging me.

Does he still loves me?

"I don't know if I should" He said

"I promised I will marry you. I couldn't marry this other woman when I was so deeply in love with you." He said and she saw inside his eyes that he mean it.

" So are you still ... ?" She asked

"I'm afraid so" He said

"Ohh. I'm a stupid , stupid woman. I shouldn't being come. I'm sorry" She said and runned away from the house.

"Julia! Wait!" Amar shouted and runned up to her .

"Why didn't you write me after you came back from Pakistan?" She said felt her eyes getting wet.

"What? " He asked

"It wasn't over for me. I did it because I was mad at you not because I stopped loving you. Why didn't you? I've been waiting for you for two years. I don't think I can do this anymore. It's too late" She cried

"I wrote you a few letters. I even came to your house and asked for you but then this woman she said that you don't leave here anymore. I was devastated. I thought I lost you."

"Oh ..."

"It wasn't over for me too. You have no idea how much I've missed you" He said

"I had no idea ..." She said

"I ..." He began to say. She covered his lips by hand

"Don't say that"

"I do" He said" Please stay. I lost you once. I don't think I can do it again" He said and kissed her passionately. Julia had no idea how much she missed his lips. His touch. His warm body.

"I love you" He said.

"I love you too" She said
