Facts about kidnapping for money, prostitution and trafficking:

Kidnapping women as well as much smaller amount of men has become an increasingly growing business for rebel groups and criminal gangs around the world.
In reality a very few kidnappers are ever brought to justice. In theory in many parts of the world the kidnapping incidents are not reported to the authorities. Many poor countries cannot afford to stop the criminals. So there is no investigation for people responsible for such a thing.

Most kidnappings take place in countries where there is political upheaval, extreme poverty, or low levels of law enforcement. Therefore just because the kidnappings happen in such countries this is nearly impossible to find the people responsible for it.

In Columbia - the kidnap Capital of the world - it has been estimated that average 2.000 people are annually kidnapped for unknown reasons. In countries such as Columbia the kidnapping has become a second biggest illegal industry of course after drug trafficking. Some people are saying that kidnapping takes place in a countered where there's huge gap between haves and have-nots. Every year this problem is continuing to grow and there's really nothing we can do to stop this.

There are many reasons why kidnapping might be and growing and good affordable industry. In this century many kidnappers are doing it for money. But the truth is that the money from the first batch of releases could help bankroll the group's further activities. Kidnappings in countries such as Colombia are unlikely to stop, as the rebels are reliant on ransom revenue to continue their struggle.

We often hear about the incidents of kidnapping in Americas. On the other side of the world in countries such as Thailand or Burma every year many young women are sold into the sex and trafficking industry. Many of these girls are not even 10 years old.

In Thailand the sex and trafficking is a multi billion annual industry, which amazingly it has been estimated as 50-60 % of government annual budget. Large amount of young women and children from neighbor hooding countries and from outside Asia are kidnapped and forced into the prostitution and trafficking through the four main Thai borders : Chiang Rai, Ranong and Mae Hong at the Burmese border, Trat and Sa Kaew at the Cambodia border, Mukdahan and Nong Khai at the Lao border and Yala and Narathiwat at the Malaysian border.

Around 10,000 foreign women are trafficked for sexual exploitation each year from nearby countries to replace Thai women who have moved on other roles in the sex industry. Many Girls at age 13-15, from Ban Vanaluang, were sold to pimps for 5,00 - 10,000 baht by their parents, who may be drug addicted or needed money.

The girls are deceived about their destination, which is often Chiang Mai. Trafficking women and children from the Mekong countries - China, Burma, Laos and Cambodia has been increasing. The largest groups of newly trafficked women into the sex industry are from Burma's Shan state, and minority women from the Northwest border areas.

Victims of trafficking from other nations are easily deceived or lured because they face poverty, unemployment, broken families and unstable governments in their own countries. Thailand is a staging point for the international trade in prostitutes and illegal workers, with facilities for the production of false travel documents and processing of foreign nationals to third countries.

The fact is that many of Brothel owners in Thailand prefer foreign women because they are easier to control and more ''loyal". ''They will not cheat us like Thai women do, or escape from us. They are also abundant in number...

This makes it worse for the young travelers who are coming for `holidays` to Thailand. The AIDS pandemic is how the sex industry is excusing recruiting more young girls from remote areas in Thailand, Shan State in Burma, Southern China, Kampuchea and Laos, under the false pretense that younger girls will not be infected with the disease.
The prostitution in Thailand have a big economic impact on this country.

Once the victims are forced into the prostitution they rarely stay in one location. While some women stay in one brothel for a year or more, many are frequently moved around by the owners to avoid being caught or found by the women family members who want them back. The young women who are trafficked internationally are especially victimized because of the language barrier in their destination country. This creates a situation where they are easily exploited by customers, are at the mercy of brothel owners, are at disadvantage seeking help if they run away, are unaware of laws that might protect them. Besides being forced to work off their debt, which can take years, the women are charged for all their expenses at the brothel.

Victims of forced prostitution are particularly exposed to health risks, especially sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including AIDS, because they are not allowed to negotiate the terms of sex. Aside from the risk of infection through sexual intercourse with many clients, the growing popularity of contraceptive injections in brothels also contributes to the spread of disease, since brothels owners often use the same and possibly contaminated needle several times.

Thailand historically has addressed the problem of trafficking of women by adopting several international laws concerning this issue. Thailand ratified three international
agreements that ended the sanction of prostitution by the government. Trafficked victims are not only sent to Thailand for prostitution, but Thailand is also used as the main route for sending prostitutes to other countries.

It does not matter whether trafficked victims are men, women or children, with or without STDs or AIDS, they are human beings, and thus deserved to be treated as human. Many victims who carry the AIDS virus are shunned by society and the government and are left to die.

"Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
God Bless all the abduction victims.
God Bless the children that have been kidnapped when young and forced to do things they wouldn't normally do.
Bless us O Lord,
and these Thy gifts
which we are about to receive from Thy bounty.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen."
