Old Magic

Hope you like it. Gemma has these weird dreams, she's quite unsure about her life because of it. Her lovely cat, her horrid brother, even her super popular school-life seems to be oh-so familiar. And not in the normal way. Like she's lived it before. Hmmm......
I look over at my brother across the cottage as he scribbles important notes upon his paper. I am curious of what goes on in the boy school. There school is from 8:15 to 2:30 and our school is from 8:00 to 12:00.

We are up earlier, but we leave much earlier. It makes me confused, so I open my mouth (a stupid mistake) and ask, "What do the boys learn about in class?" My brother looks over at me and glares "When we get up, and get our chores done, and head over to that school, and stay there, we become mean. We learn how to take care of our wives, of girls, learn how to make them women. You should know that Genevieve." I swallow hard at his words.

My name in French meaning race of women, I hate how we are treated. I pull up my prairie dress (not enough to show ankle) and take a deep breath.
I go up the stairs and scoop up my pail in anger. It swings back and forth, and several of my books fly to different parts of my tiny room.

Great.
My cat hops up on the windowsill "Hello, Mildera. How have your days been?"
"Good, child." She purrs.
"Glad one of us have been happy." I complain, moving my hair behind my ear. "Well," She said "Just look in your witchery book. Your spell book. Maybe you can change it in the future. Fix something, to make it better."

"Or," I say with a dramatic pause, pulling my book from under my tiny, tiny dresser "I could put things straight with all my problems. You'll know, just give me 100 years, Mildera." I said with a wicked smile.
"Isn't that a little long?" Mildera said, always smart.
"Yes, Mildera, but you'll be back too. Don't worry, you'll love it.
"Whatever you say Genevieve."
"Haha, you know, Mildera, I must tell you something importa-"

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sit up straight in bed, gasping from another weird dream. I'm coated in sweat, my hair plastered on my neck and shoulders. I took a deep breath. I peeled my blankets off my legs and got up. The floor was coll under my feet.

I was sooooooooo getting carpets.

Anyway, I hopped in the shower. A nice cold shower. Then when I was freezing, I put it on warm. Then hot to relax my muscles. After twenty minutes, I felt clean, and awake, and better, as if I'd washed the remains of that weird dreams questions from my mind.
I walked down to soggy cereal, and lukewarm coffee.
Wonderful.

I was still tired. Dreams like that just felt weird to me. My cat ran down the stairs, realizing I'd woken up. "Hey Mildred. How've ya been?" I smiled down at her as she curled around my legs. "I gotta go, lovely." I said scratching her ears, scooping up my backpack in anger that it was Monday, several of my books flying out.
"Great!" I groan. Walking around the front room picking them up, and shoving them into my backpack and closing it up. I sighed as my brother runs downstairs "Drive me to school?" I asked as he takes a bite of cold toast.
"Not with a girl!" He says ruffling my hair and winking at me. He's kidding, but still ughh. I hated when he talked like that. I mean I didn't even know why! Maybe those dreams were getting to me....
"Whatever." I say starting to walk he waves at me bye, gonna be late-the real reason he Isn't taking me. I flip my i-pod to something as I start walking to school.

I was passing my best friends and I saw her run up the street behind me. I turned off my iPod and said "Hey, Adriana." I said. She laughed and said "Onto school!" And sighed deeply.
