'Come on Meyer.' I say handing him the phone for the tenth time that afternoon but he pushed it away.

'No.' he says without a flaw in his speech.

'We went through all that practice for nothing.'

'It's not for nothing..' he says trying to come up with a excuse. 'it will help me get a A in speech class.' he smiles pointing out the fact.

'Yes, but we did this so you could ask out Cindy!' I say pushing the phone over to him.

'Fine.' he sighs typing in her number. he put it on speaker phone so I could hear the conversation.

'Hello?' her sunny voice came threw the phone. I my eyes went from the phone to Meyer who was frozen. I nudged him.

'Hey, Cindy.' he says coming back to life. 'It's Meyer.'

'Oh, hi Meyer.' she said, it sounded like she was smiling. 'Your voice sounds clearer.' I winked at him and he just smiled.

'Yeah, Chloe has been helping me with it... ' he tells her waiting for the reply.

'Oh, that's so sweet. she is quite lovely isn't she?' her honey sweet voice asks.

'Yeah. Listen, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go out for ice cream tomorrow after school?' he asks as we both cross out fingers.

'Sure, I'd love to.' she finally replies.

'Great.' his face lightens up. 'i will see you tomorrow then.'

'Can't wait, bye.' she says before hanging up.

'Oh... my .... gosh.' he sighs falling down on my couch. I squealed.

'YOU DID IT!' I hugged him tightly.

'Thanks to you. Thanks Chloe.' he smiles hugging me back. He was a true best friend.

****Monday.*****
Oh my gosh.. kept running threw my head when my mom pulled into the school parking lot. The scene from last friday also kept running threw my head too. The fall, the carry, the kiss...

'I'll see you after school.' my mom smiles. I got out and looked over myself to make sure I looked okay. My long brown/reddish curled hair went down my shoulders past the straps to my green sundress I was wearing. I headed inside and took a deep breath once I got to my locker... I had made it that far. But just as I was feeling a bit better, Kolbi came to give me a kiss on the cheek.

'I called you this weekend.' he tells me.

'You did? I must have not gotten the messages.' I lied.

'Oh,' he shrugs. 'i missed you.' he kisses me, long and sweet. 'I've wanted to do that all weekend.' I just give him a smile that I had to force.

'We better go.' I motion to the hallway.

'A few more.' he says checking for any teachers first then wrapping one arm around my waist and one hand went behind my neck kissing me deeply a few more times. I lightly, casually pushed away.

'We should go.' I nod. He just smiles an takes my hand. I heard a slam and looked to see Jackson was storming down the hallway... he had seen everything. I felt pain for him and I felt bad about it. But when we walked into first period is when I saw the pain I truly gave him. I can't even describe it. But he quickly ducked his head so he didn't have to look at me. I sighed and sat down.

'Okay class!' the teacher grinned coming up to the front of the classroom with two baskets with little pieces of paper in it. 'This is the last project of the year! You and a partner will be doing a review over a book that we have read this year.'

Well I haven't been here all year but I had read most classic books and I hoped to get one I would know.

'Now,' the teacher continued. 'in this basket I have your class names and in this one I have the books we have read, but some are doubles.'

She started reading off names until my name came.

'Chloe Donaldson is doing a project with Jackson Dorrč.'

'YOUR SHITTEN ME!' Jackson explains in disbelief.

'JACKSON WATCH YOU LANGUAGE!' the teacher snaps. he sunk in his chair.

'Sorry.' he mumbles.

'Your book is Pride and Prejudice.' she smiles back at us. I sighed and lowered in my chair. 'Now,' she says when she was done reading the names. 'briefly meet with your partner and come up with a plan.' People started to move desks and chairs getting in groups of two. I slowly stood and walked over to Jackson's desk sitting in a chair across from him.

'Hey.' I smile. I knew this would be awkward.

'I can't believe... I'm with you.' he said.

'Me too.' I say. But quickly changing the subject he says,

'we can go to my place after school and start on the project. Okay?'

'Okay.' I sigh. The bell rang and we all got up to go and I saw Jackson and Kolbi a couple feet apart and realized something.

Kolbi was always smiley and flirty, not showing other emotions to me. I mean that wasn't a completely bad thing but it wasn't what I wanted.

Jackson on the other hand showed me different sides of him. Smiley, angry, sad, hurt, flirty, annoyed, helpful, and sweet sides of him. That's what I wanted. He wasn't afraid to show me his different emotions.

I snapped back to reality when Kolbi took my hand and pulled me out to the hallway.

When the school day was over I slung my bag over my shoulder, took a deep breath, then walked up to Jackson who was packing in another book.

'Come on.' he says lightly grabbing my elbow to lead me out of the school. Once we were to his house after a long walk in silence I realized something else that I liked about Jackson. He was a lot like me. I always thought he might have a big fancy house because at first he acted as though he was so much better than me. But his house was a lot like mine.

'Mom?!' he yells into the house as we drop our stuff at the front of the house. I followed him into a kitchen where he picked up a note and said 'of course.' rolling his eyes dropping the note and heading for the fridge. I couldn't help but peek at the note that said,

Jackson,
Be home in time to make supper.
Love,
Mom.

'Want a cookie?' he offers in a flat tone.

'Sure.' I say examining their house. It was like my house except it didn't have boxes everywhere and was actually painted. It was quite beautiful with the sun rushing in through the windows. 'Your house is beautiful.' I look back at him.

'Thanks.' he says hopping onto a stool that made up the breakfast bar. I sat down next to him and took a bite of the cookie. We started on the project debating what we should say about Elizabeth's sister when he drops his pencil and looks at me straight in the eye and gets right to the point,

'Are you trying to kill me?'

'What do you mean?' I breath a laugh.

'You and Kolbi constantly kissing in front of me.' he says, 'when you know.'

'Jackson.' I breathe turning my whole body to face him, setting a hand on his that was gently placed on the counter. 'I'm sorry I'm causing you pain. But I don't want it to be this way and you know that.'

'What way?'

'Me dating Kolbi when you know I want to be with you.' I slipped my hand away from his.

'It's as easy as breaking up.'

'It's not that easy' I shook my head, looking down to play with the hem of my sundress. 'he was my first... boyfriend, kiss, boy I danced with. It's not that easy to let go.' I saw Jackson's hands cover mine, bringing my glance up to his.

'Chloe, you have to understand, there will be other boyfriends and dances. There will be other first kisses.' he says. 'trust me.' he leaned in and our lips softly played with each other as we kissed lightly. His hands traveled from my hands to my hips and mine to his cheeks. Finally I eased away.

'It's going to be harder than I thought to stay away.' I say leaning my forehead against his.

'Than don't.' he tells me.

'I don't think I'll be able to any more.' I smile and he returned it along with a few more kisses.

How was I going to break up with Kolbi though?
