Obama Blamed by al-Qaeda Operative for the Gaza Turmoil
Number two in command of al-Qaeda makes incongruous statements about President-elect Obama’s role in the Gaza Strip bombings.
In a large step towards the surreal, the number two leader of al-Qaeda ripped President-elect Barack Obama yesterday, blaming him for the violence in Gaza by virtue of Obama’s failure to act on the matter. That Obama is at present unable to take any specific action on behalf of the United States in the matter seems to have escaped Ayman al-Zawahiri, who also said that the actions of Israel in the Gaza Strip were a "crusade against Islam and Muslims" and went on to call the actions "Obama’s gift to Israel." Damning rhetoric to be sure, but what seems more clear is that the powers that be in the terrorist camp are intent on continuing to whip up a frenzy of discontent throughout their membership and throughout the Muslim world, regardless of what progress could be made with the advent of a new executive administration in the States.
al-Zawahiri went on to say, "This is Obama whom the American machine of lies tried to portray as the rescuer who will change the policy of America. He kills your brother and sisters in Gaza mercilessly and without affection." The Egyption al-Zawahiri also denounced Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who has kept his country’s border with the Gaza Strip closed since Hamas seized power in the region. Said al-Zawahiri of Mubarak, "At the time when Israeli planes drop their bombs from the air, he closes the borders with his forces so that the plan of the killing of believers in Gaza is fulfilled."
Though there have been mass protests of Israeli’s actions in Gaza, al-Zawahiri has stated that such demonstrations are not enough, urging people to act thusly: "Fight the Zionist Crusader campaign. Strike its interests everywhere you can reach them. Support and back your mujahedeen and children against them."
