O. J. Simpson: More Trials & Tribulations

A brief criminal account of the nfl hall of famer and his new troubles.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night, June 12, 1994, two young people, Nicole Brown (ex-wife of O.J. Simpson) and Ron Goldman, in the prime of their lives were savagely butchered in front of 875 South Bundy Drive in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles, CA in what later became known as the crime of the century.

In the days following the crime, culminated by the now famous "slow speed chase" seen around the world, O.J. Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders.

In 1995, after a trial that lasted nearly a year, a jury of his "peers?" acquitted Simpson of the crimes despite overwhelming evidence that seemed to prove beyond all doubt that he was responsible for the crime. Evidence so strong, that a blood trail containing the victims blood and Simpson's blood led away from the crime scene to the rear alley of the residence, reappeared in the White Ford Bronco owned by Simpson parked in front of his residence, continuing on his driveway and into his residence.

In 1997, a civil trial was brought against Simpson by the victim's families for wrongful death. A jury in that case returned a verdict declaring Simpson responsible and awarded the families $33 million.

Since then, Simpson's legal troubles have extended beyond the horrific murders. He was acquitted of assaulting another person in a road rage case. The FBI investigated him at his home in Florida for "allegedly" stealing cable tv signals, but none of these "post-murder" crimes compares with his latest exploits of "allegedly" being involved in an armed robbery, with at least three other people wielding guns, of a hotel guest's room at the Las Vegas Palace Station Hotel & Casino. The victim apparently had in his possession O.J. Simpson memorabilia. O.J. claims he was attending a friend's wedding party at the hotel, when he entered the room hoping to retrieve the memorabilia items that he says belonged to him and the victim was trying to sell them.
On September 16, 2007, Simpson was arrested and charged with crimes including, Robbery with the use of a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to commit Robbery, Burglary with a Deadly Weapon, 2 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Coercion. If convicted, Simpson could very well spend the rest of his life in prison.

In a twist of irony during the first trial for the murders of Brown and Goldman, Denise Brown, Nicole Brown's sister, testified that O.J. Simpson had told Nicole, that he could kill her and get away with it because he's O.J. Simpson.
Since the trial, we have all learned of the tremendous ego of O.J. Simpson. His name has become synonymous with narcissism.

Now, it appears he also has the ability tomurder and to coerce other people to commit crimes with him. This now places him alongside another vicious, notorious killer, Charlie Manson, who also had the ability to coerce others, i.e. "The Manson Family". Manson killed at least one (Donald "Shorty" Shay") although never convicted of this, while his accomplices killed at least eight. Manson was convicted these eight murders as well as his accomplices.

While Simpson's bust may be in the presence of Jim Brown, Joe Namath, and Walter Payton, his legacy; however, will be more connected to others like Manson.
