The NYSE holidays list for 2012 has nine holidays. In 2012, since New Year's day falls on a Sunday, the day after that is 2nd January, Monday, that is the Monday, has been declared a holiday. April 6th April, Good Friday A holiday commemorated in memory of the day on which the crucifixion of Jesus Christ took place.
May 28th May, Memorial Day Celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, it is a holiday in memory of all soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
July 4th July, Independence Day It is the day on which the United States of America declared its independence.
September 3rd September, Labor Day Labor day history tell us that the day is celebrated to mark the economic and social growth of the country, thanks to the contribution made by the workers.
November 22nd November, Thanksgiving Day Every year, the fourth Thursday of November is celebrated as a day of gratitude for everything that you possess and own. NYSE holidays rules also prescribe that the day after Thanksgiving, the market will close at 1 pm.
December 25th December, Christmas The biggest festival of the year celebrated to mark the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ.

It is important to understand that the list of federal holidays for 2012 and the list of NYSE holidays for 2012 can be hugely different.
